(SSP) A Killer's Confession, the alt-metal outfit led by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, have released their new single "Blinding Lights," a stripped-down reimagining of The Weeknd's massive global hit.
Stepping away from the crushing weight and aggression that typically define the band's sound, A Killer's Confession approach "Blinding Lights" from an entirely different direction. Their rendition strips the song back and places the focus on its unmistakable melody and Reavis' vocal performance, offering an unexpected side of the band while retaining the emotional pull that made the original a worldwide phenomenon.
Reavis says the decision to tackle another cover came after the strong response to the band's rendition of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box," but this time he wanted to venture even further outside A Killer's Confession's usual territory.
"I enjoyed doing Heart-shaped box so much and it was so well received I felt like maybe I should do another. This time I wanted to do something in a different genre, and go a completely different route. I always enjoy the song, 'Blinding Lights' just something catchy and haunting about it. I feel like it could be the perfect song to be stuck in our character's head for the last time ever as we end this trilogy."
