This Redmond, Washington native has been singing since the age of five. His first instrument was a saxophone. Later came the piano and guitar.
Lewis said that he has always been attracted to noise; so it stand's to reason that he would get into music. Lewis said that he loved Robin Williams in "Mork and Mindy" because of all the sounds Williams made.
Blake Lewis has followed somewhat in Williams footsteps with his own sound known as beatbox. Lewis became American Idol's first beatbox contestant.
Season 6 contestants have seen their albums being released with little or no fan fare. Many Arista artists have seen their albums released with no help from the record company as of late and Blake Lewis is no exception. His album was released in early December with no notice.
Lewis' debut album is titled "Audio Day Dream"; he calls it ADD for short. The album was four years in the making and like the disorder the letter stand for Attention Deficit Disorder the album has frequent changes and doesn't stay in one place for very long. But for music this is a good thing. Listeners will not get tired or bored of the album and will be awaiting to see what comes next.
However; the album is well thought out and constructed. Lewis demonstrates his versatility. Along with his beatbox sounds are well crafted songs with catchy tunes and intelligent lyrics. Maroon 5 fans will want to hear what Blake Lewis has to offer.
"Audio Day Dream" contains 16 songs of pop, hip hop, and dance tunes that will have you dancing and even singing along. Included in the album of original music is a ballad or two American Idol did not do justice to Blake Lewis but his album does and shows off the real Blake Lewis.
