Human Darts - Explicit Thoughts

.
The band Human Darts has been around since the 70s, or so the legend goes. The music it's just released via Explicit Thoughts is primarily simple, goodtime punkish garage rock. "Stitches," for example, sounds as though it could have come from one of those Nuggets compilations, those ones that collected raw, but beautiful, psychedelic rock from the 60s.

The strangest Human Darts song is "Hey Good Lookin'," an old hit for country music pioneer Hank Williams. With a stripped-down rock arrangement, beneath a snotty, pop-punk lead vocal, Human Darts prove the durability of Williams' songs. The track's lone concession to the song's country roots is a honky tonk piano part running through it.

This EP is rounded out with the affected vocal on "Zombie Man Chant," which includes - as you might expect - a chanted vocal and a groovy Farfisa organ part. The set ends with "Tell My Sister," which includes the double entendre, "I have a really big gun."

When it comes to creating fun rock & roll, Human Darts hit the target every time.
