Before his upcoming show Friday night at Northerly Island, Andrew McMahon made a stop at Garcia's Chicago to play an intimate solo show to a standing room only crowd. The roughly 350 people lucky enough to score a ticket to the show were treated to a very special evening with Andrew.

The small, dimly lit room filled with fog as the crowd waited for Andrew McMahon to take a seat at his piano. Before McMahon played the first note of the night, he joked that he felt like he was at a supper club. Andrew's shows feel less like a gathering of strangers and more like a family coming together. This night felt like Andrew was sitting in your living room, singing songs, telling stories, and laughing with you. The closeness and appreciation that he has for his fans could be felt through every note.

Fans were treated to a mix of songs from Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate, and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. The crowd sang along to every song but became enthusiastic during certain parts of "Last Straw, AZ" and "Swim," both from Jack's Mannequin. Andrew played the piano with an emotion that you could see throughout his body. Every movement, every note, and every lyric seemed to carry a piece of his story. Sitting alone at the piano, he created an intimate atmosphere that made the room feel much smaller than it was.

McMahon not only entertained with his piano and vocals but also with his stories. When introducing "Stars" by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, he shared the story behind the song, which stemmed from a drunken disagreement with his wife, followed by an attempt to get into a vehicle he thought was their Uber, but wasn't. The misunderstanding left the woman driving the car understandably frightened, much to the amusement of the crowd.

The audience was treated to a new song, "No Word for You," which McMahon dedicated to his wife, Kelly, on the anniversary of the day he asked her to be his girlfriend. The heartfelt dedication created an especially intimate moment between McMahon and the audience.

Throughout the evening, the connection between McMahon and the crowd continued to grow. Each song brought more interaction, along with plenty of laughter, stories, and memorable moments. Some songs were even altered to include references to Chicago and the Midwest, making the performance feel uniquely connected to the audience in the room.

The evening ended with a special encore guest: Andrew's daughter, Cecilia, who joined him onstage for "Cecilia and the Satellite." The moment provided a fittingly personal ending to an already intimate night.
