Gift Guide for Guys (That Ladies Will Love Too)

by Kevin Wierzbicki

This gift guide is geared to men but women will find items of interest here too. And everyone will enjoy a bit of humor at the column's end.

The OG Dag from Dags Bags

Dags

At first glance you might mistake the OG Dag from Dags Bags as an ordinary backpack. That's understandable since the bag really does look like a (very handsome) backpack and can be worn backpack-style. But there are secrets hidden within! The OG Dag is essentially a baby-changing accessory that opens up to become a "supply tray" and that will hold everything dad needs to change a diaper, just like he was at home (the OG Dag was designed by men, for men.) And there are all kinds of places for dad to put those supplies; there are pockets and pouches galore and some that fit every kind of baby bottle and those pockets are lined with insulation so bottle contents stay fresh. And this is very important, The OG Dag has a hidden hook to affix over a public restroom door so that the bag/supply tray is completely secure during a diaper change in the men's room (the hook stows away out of sight in the bag when you're done.) This eliminates the need to rely on those often sketchy fold down baby-changing stations in public restrooms. The OG Dag has pouches where clean diapers can be stored and a drawstring bag to hold soiled diapers until they can be properly disposed of. Other features include a "changing pad" that's conveniently marked "head" and "feet" on the ends, and a pocket to hold baby wipes that can be accessed while the OG Dag is zippered up; just lift the flap that has a magnetic closure. There are spaces too in the OG Dag for diaper cream, cloth rags, clothes, binkies, teethers and snacks and there are large side pockets that can hold water bottles up to two liters in size. Yes, of course mom can use it too, but the OG Dag will make dad in particular feel very comfortable with the task at hand. Order the OG Dag and see all the other products that Dags has here.

Bruno Marc Men's Shoes

Bruno Marc

We have a new favorite footwear company and we think you will too once you see the line of very handsome shoes for men from Bruno Marc. Bruno Marc offers stylish oxfords, sneakers, dress shoes, loafers, boots, slip-ons and even sandals. With that kind of variety it's not easy to pick a favorite, but we are kind of partial to the Bruno Marc Breathable Casual and Lightweight Sneakers with Cushioned Midsole. That's quite a description but they are quite a shoe! We really appreciate that these lace-up shoes are slip-ons and that they have a breathable mesh upper that helps to keep our feet dry and fresh. Other features include a protective TPU toe, textured laces that stay securely tied, a durable rubber anti-slip outsole and a cushioned injection-molded EVA midsole that puts a bit of a spring in our step. Available in black, black and grey, white and black or deep lichen green, these shoes can match with any outfit. Other styles we really like are the Zapatos Trabajo Black & Lightweight Sneakers that feature a splash-proof knitted upper and a removable anti-bacterial arch support insole (and that make us look really sharp!) and the Fashionable Low-Top Sneakers that are slip-ons with a vegan leather upper, vegan leather and mesh lining and a foam insole. These are comfortable beyond belief! And when we want to look fabulous out on the trail (or anywhere) we put on our Faux Fur Combat Snow Boots. Elegant yet durable, these Bruno Marc boots have a padded collar, a soft upper crafted from synthetic leather, a thermoplastic elastomers sole, and an overall design that'll keep your feet warm. Go ahead and wear them in dreary weather; they're waterproof. And of course they feature outsoles that have great grip! Most Bruno Marc shoes are priced at under $50. Cool-jams Men's NightCool Sleepwear

Cool-jams

"Cool jams? Sure, I have lots of great music!" Well that's nice but it's something different we're talking about here. Cool-jams is short for "cooling pajamas" and doesn't that sound fantastic! Crafted for the man who experiences night sweats or for those who live in warm climates, Cool-jams Men's NightCool Sleepwear helps to make a night's sleep much more restful. Just exactly how does this work? Well, Cool-jams are designed with fabrics that help to regulate body temperature while you sleep. That means they are engineered to move moisture away from the body; moisture-wicking properties keep the fabric from absorbing sweat so that the skin can dry much more quickly. There is a full explanation of how Cool-jams work on the company's website, but as a sleeper who often overheats, we can affirm that they work! Cool-jams can be purchased by the individual piece or you can build your own NightCool set. We have the Men's Classic NightCool Pants and besides the "cool factor" we really like that these have pockets and a fly that closes with a button. Sometimes we skip the pants and sleep in the Men's Classic NightCool Boxer Shorts which also conveniently have pockets and the button-fly. Then we have the Men's Classic NightCool Crew Neck T-shirt that we alternate with a Cool-jams Men's Classic NightCool Tank Top. Cool-jams are stylish too; you'll look great in black or navy blue, and there are sizes for all body types. You'll (literally!) be one cool daddio! Ladies, Cool-jams makes sleepwear for you too. "Father Humor: Mastering the Art of the Dad Joke" - By Bart King

Father Humor

Yes, they can be and usually are groan-inducing. But there's no denying the wit that goes into the creation and telling of a "dad joke." If you know someone who often tells dad jokes, this compendium from Bart King will thrill them to no end. On the other hand, it will encourage them! Like the jokes themselves, "Father Humor" is meant to be fun and King does an excellent job of conveying that in his pages. Yes there are tons of jokes here that can be appropriated, everything from the clever quip "Have you been eating all my fresh fruit?"/"Oh stop being so pear-anoid" to a joke inspired by a famous song by Queen that's about the cost of property, "Is this the real price/Is this just fantasy/Caught up in land buys/No escape from bureaucracy." Yep the book is loaded with jokes dad would probably never think of on his own. The more than 170 pages are broken into chapter with titles like "Pun Intend-Dad," "Mala-Pops," "Pun Pong" as well as chapters that focus on jokes about music, proper names, headlines, science and medicine and food and business. The last chapter is about expanding your audience; it is suggested for those who are really into telling good dad jokes that they try their hand at an open-mic night at a comedy club. Just be prepared to hear that sad trumpet sound! "Father Humor" is also a really fun read even if you'll never tell a dad joke yourself. Publisher Gibbs Smith has presented the book in hardcover, a good thing since like the jokes within, it will get passed around a lot. Available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other booksellers.
