Did you know that the band Sister Hazel take their name from Sister Hazel Williams, a much-admired missionary who ran a homeless shelter in the band's hometown of Gainesville, Florida? So it's no surprise that Sister Hazel are involved with the Crossroads Music Festival which was created to raise funds for children's charities and organizations in Loudon County and the National Capital region (Leesburg is about 40 miles outside of Washington, DC.) All net proceeds from the event will be donated.

Billed as "The DC region's premiere music showcase," the Crossroads Music Festival will not only feature Sister Hazel as headliner but also feature 20 showcases that will take place at various venues in downtown Leesburg on the 19th. Among those set to appear are Airmont Road, Chris Ellinghaus, Cross Cut Saw, Dogs of Puerto Rico, Dominic Cicala, Ethan & Julia, File a Complaint, Gary Smallwood and Prescott Engle, Hunter Road, Intellect, Juliana Macdowell, Laurie Blue, Loudoun Jazz Ensemble, Mike McCabe, Mintons Academy of Music, Mt. Gribley, Piper Stewart, Roam Like Ghosts, The Duskwhales, The Franklin Park Big Band, The Train Wreck Endings, Thomas Hinds and Uncle Drew and the Scoundrels. And making a special appearance will be Lol Tolhurst of the Cure; he'll appear for a "Songs and Stories" interview and book signing session at the Tally Ho Theater. Additionally on Sept. 18 sax man Lil' Maceo will appear on the Leesburg Town Green with Intellect and Jumptown during the Rhythm & Brews kickoff party. As that event's name hints at, craft beer will be available during the festival as will be wine.
