Joannie Foney's Top 5 of 05.

5. Sinai Beach - Immersed : showing me for the first time ever that "Christian metal" is no longer a funny oxymoron.

4. (Hmmm, eeenie, meenie, miney moe...In Arcadia, Jacknife or Razorwire?) : I like these releases too much not to mention them, can't decide which to leave off the list. Yes, this has been an excellent year for metal.
(In Arcadia review | Jacknife review | Razorwire review )

3. Anthrax - No Hit Wonders: any year that an Anthrax album comes out is a good year indeed, especially this one, featuring all the songs of my wasted youth.
(samples / buy cd | review)

2. Meshuggah - 33 1/3: typical Mesh quality release, nothing to disappoint on here, which is quite possibly the understatement of '05 as well.
(samples / buy cd | review)

1. Scars of Tomorrow - Horror Of Realization : excellent, excellent stuff. This is a talented band worth seeking out & supporting.
