Singled Out: Benjamin's Brother's Room 505

Benjamin's Brother recently released a new single and music video for the song "Room 505.", to celebrate we asked him to tell us the story behind the song. Here is the story:

Writing is funny because it always catches you when you're off guard. It takes a second to understand what you want to say, and most of the time, the first version you have, is the most accurate one. The brutal truth.

I was a student at the "Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance", and me and my wife had a terrible week. Life, bank, school, everything got us to a point when we fought a lot, and the fact that it was the first year or so of our marriage, got us wondering if we did the right thing or we rushed things up. We talked bluntly to each other, and said things that we shouldn't have said.

As I was walking at the academy that week, I stumbled on an empty room with an upright piano, and I sat next to it. Words and music came out at the same time. I found myself crying and the understanding of our relationship, the understanding we need to be honest with each other was there right in front of me. I played the song to my wife, we found our way back, with the understanding that we will always have obstacles in our way, we just have to learn how to react, and embrace the ups & downs that relationships offer.

Gil Lewis, my producer, saw those feelings and wrapped the song in an electronic environment that suits those feelings. the beat, the piano, the echo behind it all, takes me back to this moment next to the piano, where everything was clear to me.

There are very few songs that force me to be so "naked" on stage as this one does. I just close my eyes and hope that everybody will be as naked as I am.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about Benjamin's Brother right here!
