Rare Daft Punk Unmasked Footage Surfaces

(Radio.com) French electronic music duo Daft Punk aka Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter--like Sia--prefer performing with their faces obscured from view. But now rare footage from an early set when they first broke on the scene has surfaced showing them without anything covering their face.

Someone in the crowd captured about five grainy minutes of Daft Punk on stage at the France's Carros Festival in 1995. In the footage, which initially surfaced on Reddit, neither member wears their typical masks or helmets. They play their single "Da Punk," which later appeared on their debut album Homework.

The footage has reignited rumors that the duo will tour, but insiders insist they have no plans to do so. Daft Punk hasn't officially toured since 2007, although they did make an appearance at the 2014 GRAMMYs where they performed their single "Get Lucky" with Pharrell and Stevie Wonder.
