Those that say rock is dead must not have heard The Soul Shakers new single "Here To Have A Good Time". We asked Elias Reidy to tell us about song. Here is the story:
What we looked to achieve in this video is to showcase the both of us almost as one, walking in the same shoes on the same path, which is literally how we met. During the years of living in Los Angeles, we eventually crossed paths more and more until we started playing music together.
"Here to Have a Good Time" is a first person view into the lives of Brett and I� Where we come from, what we do, where we hang out, who we hung out with and how we met. No one in the video is a paid actor, they're all our actual friends and companions. The "stage location" is a speakeasy called The Overpass in Silverlake where I used to bartend and book bands.
There's a feeling portrayed in the video of us almost leaving the Sunset Strip (which we felt had lost some steam regarding the rock scene) and gravitating towards something new. The lyrics are about where we were at that time - realizing we need more and less in our lives at the same time and putting our foot down and saying "this is who we are, what we've been through and what we want." And sometimes that's nothing more than simply kickin' it, doing what we love and having a good time.
