Charley Pride Radio Special Celebrates His 50 Year In Music

(Webster) SiriusXM will launch a two-hour special celebrating country music legend Charley Pride's 50th anniversary as a recording artist on the Willie's Roadhouse beginning today (Friday, July 29th). We were sent the following details:

Fans of country music trailblazer Charley Pride can catch the multi-platinum selling singer on an upcoming two-hour radio special airing on SiriusXM. Tune in as Pride sits down with host, "Mayor of Music Row," Charlie Monk in celebration of the Country Music Hall of Fame member's 50th year in music. Nothing is off limits as the Grammy winner talks about some of his most memorable moments, along with struggles along the way, including Pride's triumphant climb to the top by transcending racial boundaries to become the first black superstar in country music.

"I had a lot of fun doing this radio show with my longtime friend Charlie Monk," says Pride. "And it was wonderful to celebrate 50 years as a recording artist with the help of so many artist friends. Being able to catch up with so many old friends made it extra special." Charlie Monk agrees, adding, "I've spent a lot of time over the last 50 years attending Charley Pride concerts, and enjoying them all. I'm glad I was his guest at the shows, because we've spent a lot of time playing golf, where he still got my money."

There are also a few surprises in store, as some of Pride's closest friends, and fellow country stars congratulate the 36-time chart-topper. Each guest shares some of their most memorable Charley Pride stories, and how his music has inspired them, along with the rest of the country music landscape. Whether it's music icon Dolly Parton talking about listening to Pride's smooth tunes in the Eastern Tennessee mountains along with her siblings, or other singers like Janie Fricke who got her start opening shows for the former CMA "Entertainer of the Year," one-by-one each artist describes how the "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" singer's music has inspired their careers. Also appearing are country legends Tanya Tucker, Neal McCoy, David Bellamy of the Bellamy Brothers and Joe Bonsall of the Oak Ridge Boys.

The two-hour special will air on multiple channels, appearing on both SiriusXM Willie's Roadhouse (Channel 59) and SiriusXM Prime Country (Channel 58).
