Wyclef Jean Compares Young Thug To Tupac

(Radio.com) When Young Thug was working on his mixtape Jeffrey, there was one artist he knew he had to work with: Wyclef Jean. As it turns out, the partnership was such a rewarding one that Jean wanted to work with him again. He invited Young Thug to collaborate on "I Swear" off his new EP J'ouvert.

In a new interview with Pigeons and Planes, Jean revealed why he felt the need to collaborate with Thugger so soon after working together. It might have something to do with the parallel he drew between the young Atlanta rapper and one of the biggest names in hip-hop ever to emerge out of Compton.

"He reminded me of a modern Tupac, in a sense--in a revolutionary sense," he said, explaining that it was less about Young Thug's style and more about his interest and awareness in the world around him. "I mean that by, alright, you might see a thug, but his connection to history seemed similar to what Pac understood." Read more here.
