Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor says in a new interview that he was lucky with his recent spinal surgery. He tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "I also beat the odds with spinal surgery. If I hadn't caught it, I would be paralyzed. The doctor told me that not too long ago, which scared the crap out of me. So I am extremely lucky, and I know it doesn't show a lot, but I am very grateful for what I have. A Cleveland-based metal band has recorded a version of Toto's "Africa," complete with a crunchy solo. "About a month before we left for our South Africa tour in 2014, [Affiance drummer] Patrick [Galante] and I were at a bar, and Toto's 'Africa' came on," singer Dennis Tvrdik told New Noise. "I had joked that we should cover the song since we did a cover of 'The Final Countdown' by Europe, thinking it was clever to keep the whole continent thing going." Check it out here.
