Sporty Spice Explains Why She Opted Out Of Spice Girls 'Reunion'

(Radio.com) After much hemming and hawing, a full Spice Girls reunion never happened in 2016. Ginger, Baby and Scary convened to launch "GEM," (Geri-Emma-Melanie) a noble effort that fell short by two members. And so, the 20th anniversary of their debut, "Wannabe" came and went without fanfare.

It was widely understood that Victoria "Posh" Beckham's fashion empire was too robust to resolve scheduling conflicts, but why did Sporty opt out? Melanie Chisholm penned an essay in Love magazine to explain her decision.

"Truth be told, earlier this year after several face-to-face meetings with the girls I made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri and Melanie," Mel writes. "Victoria had already bowed out understandably with the demands of her fashion label and her rather large family."

"The hardest part for me was letting people down, the girls, the fans, civilisation?!," she continues. "Unfortunately something didn't feel quite right and I had to follow my gut." Read more here.
