Singled Out: Ed Roman's The Way She Goes

Canadian singer-songwriter Ed Roman tells us the story behind his song "The Way She Goes" which comes from his most recent studio album "Red Omen". Here is the story:

"Dirty hands make clean money" This was something my grandfather used to say to me all the time. It's funny as we get older that the things from our past seem to take on new meaning and relevance. I'm continually amazed at the change in the state of our sociological an anthropological existence.

There are so many essential basic things that we have forgotten how to do and take for granted.. The idea of the consumer species and the fact that lifestyle has become a convenience has created a weakness in our ability to sustain ourselves when necessary.

It seemed to me as a child I had so many questions and the answers I were given were more like parables that self sustain themselves inside of my conscience. The answers to those questions are continually being remolded in order to bring about a more fruitful way of thinking and lifestyle. There are so many things that we now think are redundant or irrelevant but yet we still find ourselves in the state of necessity when it comes to food agriculture water the right to free speech and so many other things.

The song is designed to be more of a catalyst as it were, very similar to those kinds of answers I was given. They hopefully have more depth than the superficial aspect of what they directly mean. There are so many things in our lives that are beyond our control. Sometimes it's better not to lose yourself in the confluence but rather flow with the stream as required. It seems like it takes half of the generation for those kinds of words and information to sink in. The song "The Way She Goes" from the award winning album RED OMEN is a picturesque look into the sociological an anthropological change of today. As we move through history, history moves with us provided we look back at it. In these moments we learn so much from what we have achieved and what we have failed at. There are always hurdles that we must face in our lives and the important thing is to remember to keep moving forward. "That's the way she goes" as my grandfather would say when I would have questions for him about why things are the way they are. He left Europe in the 1920s and was disowned by his family as a result. He didn't know the language and came here and work hard to bring my family to a new world of safety and peace. There were so many obstacles that my grandparents overcame but they did it with a smile on their face and they kept on going no matter what.

The song "The Way She Goes" exemplifies all of those kinds of questions a youngster may have and what the proverbial response may be. It paints a beautiful picture of what is going on in our modern and postmodern day communities all over our wonderful world.!

Thank you for letting me tell the tale.. Everything UP!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
