Nicki Minaj Denies Slamming Kanye West

(Radio.com) Nicki Minaj isn't going to stand idly by and watch her words get twisted into something she didn't mean. After media outlets began spinning a comment she made during a recent Marie Claire interview, Minaj was quick to clap back.

Outlets have been claiming Minaj "slammed" West over his "Gold Digger" lyrics, but she insists she wasn't taking him to task. Originally, Minaj talked to Marie Claire about black women's fears that black men will leave them for white women.

She pointed to West's hit 2005 single, in which he mentions that very thing. "It wasn't funny when Kanye said, 'When he get on, he'll leave your a for a white girl,' and Kanye happens to be with a white girl now," she told the magazine, referring to West's wife Kim Kardashian. "It wasn't funny when he said it; it was the fing truth."

Linking to a headline Cosmopolitan used for an article about the interview, she clarified her meaning on Twitter. "'Slams' a man/genius who gave me one of the biggest looks of my career? I said he wasn't kidding, he was speaking the TRUTH about d [sic] industry," she wrote in the first message. See the tweets here.
