(Radio.com) Flea Addressed Criticism Of His National Anthem Performance was a top 16 story of April 2016: Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea performed the Nation Anthem before basketball star Kobe Bryant's final game on April 13th. The performance, more improvisational than traditional, was polarizing, causing a wave of internet backlash.
TMZ's cameras caught up with Flea and asked him about the criticism. "I don't care, man," he said. "I know that people who like music liked it. I thought it was beautiful.
"I really don't have any concern for little small minds that get frustrated when they get blown. I like the big minds." When asked if he had a message for the haters, he simply replied "I love you." Check out the video here.
