Guess Who Got Arrested for Drugs Again?
antiMusic reports: It's Tuesday so it must be time for another UK Justice report with Pete Doherty getting busted for drugs yet again! Stay tuned for a follow up story in a few weeks where a judge once again lets him off with a slap on the wrist so he can get arrested yet again. Must be some kind of strange full-employment program for UK police.

Here is part of the BBC report: Pete Doherty has been arrested for suspected drug possession after performing at the V festival. The 28-year-old singer was arrested in the Tower Hamlets area of east London in the early hours of Monday.

He is being held at an east London police station after the car he was travelling in was stopped by police. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs. - the BBC story

Ponk Boybander To Marry Nicole Richie?
Hecklerspray reports: Unemployed, knocked up and headed for the slammer - no, we can't imagine why nobody has whisked Nicole Richie up the aisle either.

But all that looks set to change now, thanks to the latest batch of rumours suggesting that Nicole Richie has got engaged to her boyfriend and the father of the unborn foetus that's rapidly outgrowing her, Joel Madden from horrible p[o]nk boyband Good Charlotte.

And, even though neither Nicole Richie or Joel Madden have confirmed the engagement rumours, we should apparently take them slightly more seriously than the last lot of Nicole Richie/ Joel Madden engagement rumours which, in turn, we took slightly more seriously than the Nicole Richie/ Joel Madden engagement rumours that came before those. And so on and so on, until someone somewhere hints that they'll even semi-consider caring about how engaged Nicole Richie is.- more on this story

Arthur Alexander Expanded
PR reports: Arthur Alexander was the only songwriter to be covered by the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. The Beatles and Stones both modeled their early sound after him. "When the Beatles and The Rolling Stones got their first chance to record," says Keith Richards, "one did 'Anna' and the other did 'You Better Move On.' That should tell you enough." Yet by 1980 he had mysteriously vanished. Alexander was driving a bus in Cleveland when he was rediscovered in the early '90s, and was convinced to make a new album following his long absence. The resultant Lonely Just Like Me on Nonesuch Records received some of the highest critical praise given to a pop music album in the year 1993.

And now with HackTone Records' expanded reissue, Lonely Just Like Me: The Final Chapter, set for September 25, 2007 release, Arthur Alexander appears headed for similar media citations. Sadly, however, he died shortly after the release of the 1993 Nonesuch volume, just as critics were filing their appraisals. With the reissue set to break shortly, now might be a good time to reflect on some of those 1993 reviews.

Stand Delivers 4th Album
PR reports: New York-based group Stand's fourth album "Travel Light" takes the band's music to new levels and will surely garner them high praise from fans and critics alike. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, this quartet blends lush melodic arrangements around the vocals of the band's two distinct voices, offering audiences a sound that combines thoughtful lyrics with one-of-a-kind melodies.

"Stand's brooding but energetic and melodic rock has drawn comparisons to Coldplay, Pink Floyd, and Gang of Four," says Kay O'Day from Buffalo's Art Voice. "'Travel Light' is quite different from anything they've done in the past, concentrating on the strengths surrounding the band's two lead vocalists."

Stand will kick off their tour at Joe's Pub in New York City- more on this story

Nelly Furtado Tops 6.1 Million in Sales For Loose
PR reports: Global sales of Nelly Furtado's third album, Loose, have passed 6.1 million and counting. No other female recording artist has achieved this level of sales during the past year, according to Universal Music Group.

Nelly is certainly a self-sufficient recording artist. She can not only write the songs, record and perform them, but now she can successfully direct the supporting video as well. Nelly Furtado took her first turn in the director's chair with a sassy video for her new single "Do It." MTV added the video directly into The Big Ten, the channel's heavy rotation category. "Do It" also enjoyed a TRL World Premier during Backstage Pass Week the beginning of August, with Nelly calling into the show via webcam from Portugal.
