Dishwalla Frontman Eyes Solo CD

antiMusic reports: Dishwalla's former frontman isn't spending his time counting blue cars since the band split. J.R. Richards is instead focusing on what he does best, making music. He announced to his fans last week that he plans to go into the studio early next year to begin work on a new solo album.

J.R. made the announcement with the following Myspace blog: Hey all - Finally its On. I'm scheduled to be in the studio with Producer Sylvia Massy to begin recording the new Album in January. The new record is going to be called 'The Ghost of Sorrow' and will be recorded in Weed, California @ Sylvia's - Radiostar Studios. 

You may remember that Sylvia produced 4 songs on the last Dishwalla record and I've been looking forward to working with her again. She truly does Rule - I'll keep you posted - thanks JR

Hercules Ends His Gig with The End

antiMusic reports: It appears that Andrew Hercules tenure has come to The End. The Canadian rockers have been forced to pull the plug on their tour with Between the Buried and Me after Andrew decided to exit stage left. Here is the announcement from The End:

Unfortunately we have some sad news for you, Andrew Hercules has decided to leave the band. We all wish him the best in his future endeavors. Due to this development we will need to immediately cancel the rest of the dates with Between The Buried And Me. We'll head home after the Seattle show and sort out how we will bring out the rock on our tours with Gwar and Chimaira.

KISS is back with their biggest statement to date - nearly TEN hours of KISS live on stage. KISSOLOGY VOL. 3 also features - MTV's UNPLUGGED performance, including songs that didn't make it into the broadcast or CD version! Plus, a behind the scenes documentary shot during rehearsals and back stage - Never before seen!

KISSOLOGY VOL. 3 1992-2000 has been super-expanded to four DVD's - nearly TEN HOURS of KISS live and on stage! Includes over 100 live performances, commentary from Paul, Gene, Bruce Kulick & Tommy Thayer as well as a 20 page full color booklet! 

FIVE CONCERTS included : DETROIT - 1992, DETROIT - 1996, LOS ANGELES - 1998, NEW JERSEY - 2000 and QUEENS, NY - 1973. And we teased this on KISSOLOGY VOL. 1 - the much heralded Queens, NY Coventry Show from December, 1973 - the band's first ever concert filmed in make up in its entirety!

Spicy Kanye Seal for TV Fashion Show

CBS reports: The debut television performance of the Spice Girls, and performances by Grammy Award-winning recording artists Kanye West and Seal, will be featured on THE VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW, Tuesday, Dec. 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Kanye West will open the show. This will be the Spice Girls debut television performance since reuniting. 

Top models appearing in THE VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW will include Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova and Selita Ebanks.

Mini Koop Tour

PR reports: Atlantic recording group KOOP has announced details of their upcoming North American tour. The dates celebrate the recent release of "KOOP ISLANDS." KOOP - aka Oscar Simonsson and Magnus Zingmark - will kick off their concert schedule on November 2nd at New York City's Hiro Ballroom, with dates continuing through a November 10th show at Los Angeles' Barker Block

When performing, Simonsson and Zingmark magically transform KOOP from a two-man studio project into a full-scale orchestra, complete with multiple singers and up to nine live instruments. KOOP themselves play piano/accordion (Simonsson) and sampler (Zingmark).

KOOP is a true original, known for their groundbreaking sample-based amalgamation of jazz, dance, and electronica. "KOOP ISLANDS" sees Simonsson and Zingmark absorbing the influence of the classic Big Band sound of the Twenties, Thirties, and Forties to create an inimitable groove they call "SWINGTRONICA." Joining KOOP on their remarkable musical journey are a number of guest vocalists including Hilde Louise Asbjornsen (featured vocalist for the U.S. tour as well as a featured recording artist and co-lyricist of "Strange Love" from "KOOP ISLANDS"), Yukimi Nagano, Mikael Sundin, and ex-Galliano frontman Rob Gallagher (all of whom appeared on "WALTZ FOR KOOP"), as well as the acclaimed Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun.- dates

Downtown 81 Soundtrack

PR reports: On November 6, Recall Records will release the soundtrack to cult American film Downtown 81. Starring the legendary American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), the film vividly depicts the explosive downtown New York art and music scene of 1980-81. Not a documentary, it presents a slightly exaggerated, romantic and magical version of the reality of the time: the entire cast is composed of the movers and shakers on the downtown scene.

Downtown 81 not only captures one of the most interesting and lively artists of the twentieth century as he is poised for fame, but it is a slice of life from one of the most exciting periods in American culture, with the emergence of new wave music, new painting, hip hop and graffiti. The cast includes Deborah Harry and leading bands of the era including Kid Creole and the Coconuts, James White and the Blacks, DNA, Tuxedo Moon, the Plastics, and Walter Steding and the Dragon People. As I Lay Dying Fall Tour

PR reports: After a rousing run on the Warped Tour this summer, As I Lay Dying is readying their tour of the USA. These dates are in support of their hit album, AN OCEAN BETWEEN US, out now on Metal Blade Records.

The tour begins on October 27 in Tempe, AZ and will criss-cross through states to finish up in their hometown of San Diego, CA on November 30th.

Plies Blogs Against Justice System

PR reports: Plies has also announced the official launch of BidLong.com, an online community blog that expresses the rapper's concerns regarding the prison system in this country. The site not only features updates from Plies himself, but it will also be a forum for fans to express their own feelings about incarceration and personal stories. 

Plies recently released a viral music video for his song "100 Years," in which he addresses the injustices that people are being faced with in courtrooms on a daily basis; from inadequate legal council and excessive sentencing, to crooked law enforcement officials.

Phil Ramone Book Soundtrack

PR reports: Borders is the exclusive retailer for legendary music producer Phil Ramone's new compilation CD, "Making Records," which hits shelves today at its stores across the country. In conjunction with the CD, Ramone's accompanying book, "Making Records: The Scenes Behind the Music" with co-author Charles Granata published by Hyperion Books is also available today.

Beware The Bombs Of Enduring Freedom

PR reports: The Bombs Of Enduring Freedom (the new project of James Fogarty - formerly of defunct left-field metal project 'Ewigkeit') have uploaded a new song at the Death To Music Productions myspace page.

The track is called "Beware The Bombs..." (the P.N.A.C. edit) - the original version of which appears on the self titled debut CD, which is exclusively available via newly formed 'anti-record label' Death To Music Productions (www.deathtomusic.com)

Semisonic's Dan Wilson Solo Debut

PR reports: Dan Wilson releases of his solo debut Free Life this week. Produced by Wilson, a Grammy winning songwriter and former member of cult band Trip Shakespeare and the critically acclaimed group Semisonic, the album will be available on American Recordings now. Executive produced by label head Rick Rubin, Free Life features contributions from Sheryl Crow, Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and Eric Fawcett (N.E.R.D.), among others.

Now working as a solo artist and collaborating with a collective of notable musicians from his home city of Minneapolis, Wilson earned a Song of the Year Grammy® in February for his co-writing work on the Dixie Chick's "Not Ready To Make Nice" from the album Taking the Long Way. He also contributed writing to six songs on the album, which won the Dixie Chicks a total of five Grammy® Awards including Album Of The Year and Country Album Of The Year.
