Rock's latest album "Rock N Roll Jesus" debuted at the top of the charts last October with first week sales of 172,000. Motley Crue's "Saints of Los Angeles" debuted on the charts last week at No. 4 with 99,000 copies sold, but the effort took a nose dive its second week in stores, dropping to down to No. 16 after a 69% sales decrease. Meanwhile, Rock's album went the other direction, jumping 5 spots up to No. 7 in the charts having sold 45,000 additional copies in its 39th week in stores. Tommy might want to hire a plumber, as Rock's career appears much further away from the drain than his own.
But who's on top? Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" returns to the top of The Billboard 200 this week, according to Billboard. The Cash Money/Universal album moved 156,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan
Meanwhile, Fiddy's G-Unit's new effort had a good sales week but sold less than a third of their previous release. According to E! "T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight)", the rap crew's first album in five years, managed only a No. 4 debut on sales of 102,000 copies. Comparing opening weeks, that's 275,000 fewer copies than 2003's "Beg for Mercy".
John Mayer scored the week's only other Top 10 debut, coming in at No. 5 after selling 75,000 copies of "Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles." While Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" dropped to No. 2 on 149,000; and the Camp Rock soundtrack stayed at No. 3, with 116,000. - more on this week's charts
