(Special Ops) Safe In Sound, in stores May 5th, could be the title of Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Jim Boggia's life story, not just the name of his bluhammock music debut. As he often likes to explain, "I've been told that I was singing melodies before I started speaking words, and I started playing the guitar when I was five. "Made Me So Happy," which features guest vocalist Jill Sobule, is the kind of 2 and 1/2 minute pop rocker that sends you flying for the replay button, and Safe In Sound also includes a song co-written with Aimee Mann, plus an vocal appearance by Aimee on another track. MC 5 guitarist Wayne Kramer also guest stars on the album and Jim managed to convince reclusive seventies pop legend Emitt Rhodes to add Beatle-esque background vocals to the lovely, happy-sad "Let Me Believe (Evan's Lament)," which Rhodes also co-wrote. Core musicians on the album include Pete Thomas from Elvis Costello and the Attractions/Imposters, Justin Meldal-Johnson from Beck's band and Butch from the eels.[see full story for more] - Click here for the Full Story
