Blood
Brothers ReleaseS! |
The Tripwire reports: With the recent breakup
of Test Icicles, we now turn back the Seatlle 5-piece Blood Brothers to
fulfill our shredded-throat screaming needs. The band is back in action,
with a new full-length album due out this Fall and an EP hitting stores
on May 23rd. The band will begin work on the follow-up to 2004's Crimes
this month, but will give us the happily titled Love Rhymes With Hideous
Car Wreck EP to tide us over.
The seven-track EP will contain two UK
b-sides, a few remixes and a live recording of the title track from their
performance at the '05 Reading Festival.[see full story for tracklisting]-

Dark
Vicious Rumors |
Reader Submission reports: James Rivera does
an interview with SteveSaks at LivingForMetal.com and talks about everything
from Helstar to new Vicious Rumors...below is an excerpt..cool info, and
huge interview too..enjoy
SS: What can we expect from the new Vicious
Rumors album, besides Brad Gillis’ amazing guitar leads?
JR: Once again I don’t know what it is
about me, I always seem to bring a little darkness into everything I do,
but well you know that’s my roots. The new Vicious Rumors is basically
the Heaviest and Darkest Vicious Rumors album that they have ever done.
And the band themselves, they are ecstatic . My opinion from them is that
they are blessed and just very happy that I came into the situation and
they think that’s what steered it that Dark and Heavy way even more so,
and Geoff just had been writing heavier stuff. A good 80% of it is back
to the traditional VR sound, the Carl Albert era spin on it, but then it
goes to another era of Heaviness and Darkness which they have never done
before.[see full story for the full interview]- Click

Halo
of Knives |
Grindhead reports: Tearing out of Western
Australia in a hailstorm of blood and splintered bone comes the crushing
debut album from Halo of Knives. Featuring members of Hailstones Kill 200,
this battering, violent burst of grindcore takes a crusty, no-nonsense
approach to extreme neurotic grind. An absolutely ear-splitting aural bludgeoning
(influenced heavily by old Napalm Death) mimicking the insanity of their
live shows.
Frenetic, chaotic and agonizing - an accomplished
grindcore album.
Also Upcoming Grindhead Releases expected
from Sordid, Ebolie, Maximum Perversion, Mixomatosis, M.S.I., Meat Wallet,
Punisher, Roadside Brutal and Corpsicle. See www.grindheadrecords.com for
more details[see full story for an mp3 from Halo of Knives]-

Shadows
Fall in June |
Century Media reports: On June 12th 2006,
metal titans SHADOWS FALL return with their much-anticipated new release,
“Fallout From The War”. The record’s sessions were again produced and mixed
by long-time friend, Zeuss (Hatebreed, God Forbid), at Planet Z Studios
in the band’s home state of Massachusetts. “Fallout >From The War” is a
must-have for the band’s dedicated following as each of the album’s eleven
tracks is either a brand-new, original SHADOWS FALL track, an exclusive
brand-new cover song, or a newly re-recorded version of rare material from
over the years. [see full story for tracklisting and some words from Brian
about the new CD]- Click

GNR
Reunion? |
Reader Submission reports: Richard Fortus
(Guns N' Roses guitar man) was the only actual member to have the GNR tour
dates on his website (http://www.4tus.com/), but he removed them.
Is the GNR reunion almost official?[Our
friends at Talking Metal discussed this as well in this week's podcast.
Always a guessing game with GNR but the antiMusic guess of the day is that
management had him remove them. Then again some speculate he is out of
the band and Slash is back in. However, we know for a fact that Dizzy is
still in the group and he has not posted any GNR dates on his site. Maybe
Axl will win this year's Edgar award? He seems to sure love a good mystery.
But at least he is keeping the fans occupied while waiting for the new
CD]- Click

Cell
A&R |
Reader Submission reports: "I had her sing
to me on a cell phone from a mall in Canada," says producer/songwriter
Ben Margulies, "and I heard something really special in her voice." That
voice belongs to Montreal vocal sensation Lisa Lavie, who is now working
with Margulies in his Santa Barbara studio, finishing tracks for her forthcoming
debut. The first completed song, "If I Only Knew", currently appears on
the soundtrack for the new Jeff Bridges movie, STICK IT (4/28).
Margulies is best known for his work with
Mariah Carey. He started Carey's record-breaking run of hits by co-writing
her first three #1 singles ("Vision of Love", "Love Takes Time", "Someday"),
which launched her worldwide success.[see full story for more]-

worldwide success of their major-label debut, Fallen, Evanescence is poised
to build upon their respected position in the rock community with their
sophomore effort, The Open Door, from Wind-up Records in stores October
3, 2006.
"The making of this record has been really
intense, but I've come out feeling purified,” shared Lee. “I've grown so
much since 'Fallen,' and Terry is the perfect writing partner -- I feel
like I've been lifted up to a whole new level of inspiration and possibilities.
After all the things we've seen over the past couple of years, beautiful
and tragic, in the end I'm really grateful. It has made us create music
I could not be more in love with." [see full story for more]-

Staff
Meeting: Hobo |
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard
to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was
time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff
person's new profile page. So let's begin and get to know Hobo a little
better.
Hobo is from Sydney, Australia and has
been with antiMusic February of 2003. The first CD he purchased was 'Smash
Hits Volume Tripe' back in 1996 and his first concert was "Some shitty
ska group when I was probably about 11. It was horrible ". He lists Nasum,
Ramallah, Converge, AC/DC, Motorhead, Blood for Blood, Sick of it All,
Led Zeppelin, Mastodon, Kyuss, Social Distortion, Strapping Young Lad as
his Top 10 Favorite artists (he's not one for rules so we let him get away
with listing 12). His musical pet peeves are " A lack of 'music' in actual
music. People who never listen to anything outside their shallow realm
of understanding (ie: just listening to whatever is on chart radio, just
listening to dance, just listening to 80s thrash, etc)…. " His favorite
parts of antiMusic are the metal reviews and DeadSun's column. Click the
full story to learn more about Hobo and discover which artist he would
slap, who he thinks is "a filthy, worthless, possibly murdering crack whore"
and a lot more!
