(Chipster) Selling out two of the nations most-renown clubs in less than 36 hours without so much as a CD, radio play or even advertising support, Dir en grey has accomplished more in two months than most bands do in a lifetime. Recently signing their first U.S. deal with Warcon Enterprises in January, the label announced earlier this week that the band has sold 750 tickets for the March 21st show at the Avalon in New York City and 2,011 for the March 23rd show at LAs Wiltern Theatre, both of which are the bands first U.S. performances.
Entitled Withering to Death., Dir en greys CD will be released in the States May 16th yet is already one of the most-anticipated distributed releases in WARCON history, with requests pouring in through the band and the labels web sites. Bob Chiappardi, president of WARCON, says the buzz surrounding the shows and the CD release are like nothing he has ever seen. [see full story for our review of the CD.. yes, it rocks]

I too got there at 6 am and had a COLD day of waiting. It was worth it (still fighting the cold) however and I would 100% go to see them again.

Karen, I remember seeing you guys waiting, but I was too intimidated to talk to you since you were so hardcore early. You all were very brave...and cold I'm guessing. (i talked to the 1:30am girls for a bit, though for a while they were very grumpy.)
I'm hoping for another show somewhere on the East Coast soon, even though this was really their seminole event.

The show was simply amazing! We (their US fans) have been waiting so long to see them live and it finally happened! The only thing that will top this is another US concert... or if MUCC ever comes to the states ;)

I waited seven hours. I still managed to get pretty close, but I could feel their presence emanating throughout the crowd. :D Yay.

My friends and I waited in the cold NYC streets at 12 am to get a good spot at the venue. We were the first people there apparently, and waited about 20 hours to see Dir en grey. The show was fantastic, and Dir en grey is probably one of the most talented bands ever. I hope they get a chance to play again in the U.S.

The NY show was AWESOME! A bunch of us fans camped out all day to get a good spot (12+ hours in the COLD NYC streets..brr..) and everyone was so excited and thrilled to finally get to see Deg live in the US.
I certainly hope they come back for more great lives.
