Big Band Remixed + Reinvented
Universal reports: Sunswept Music album Big Band Remixed + Reinvented is set for release on 5/23. Back in the ‘40s, Big Band leaders such as Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Artie Shaw and a host of others were riding high. The bandleader was the center of attention in every Dance club; ladies swooned and men envied them. They were the hippest cats in the dance world!

For a while, other styles of music took the place of the great bands but in recent years a new generation of clubbers have re-discovered Swing and Jazz. Big Band Remixed + Reinvented was born from the concept of combining the great music of the 40s with the technology and the DJ of today. On Big Band Remixed + Reinvented you get 17 tracks of absolute genius as DJ Spooky takes on Harry James, Chris Coco re-mixes Pete Fountain, Chris Joss reclaims Woody Herman and Kidgusto tackles Jimmy Dorsey. Every track is absolutely amazing. The music of the past becomes the sound of today! [see full story for tracklisting]- Click Here for the Full Story

Ego Ain't Enough to Artic Monkey
Rockdirt reports: The People reports Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner was barred from the Cavendish bar in his Sheffield hometown after a doorman failed to recognize him - and didn't believe he was over 18. He told them he was 20 but the bouncer said, 'I don't believe you - you got any ID?' Alex said, 'I don't need ID. I'm Alex Turner. I'm the lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys'. The bouncer said, 'I don't give a toss, you don't look 18 and you need ID'.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Staff Meeting: Travis
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better. Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff person's new profile page. So let's begin and get to know Travis Becker a little better.

Travis is from Richmond, VA and has been with antiMusic since May 04. The first CD he purchased was Ministry's 'Psalm 69' and his first concert was Ugly Kid Joe in VA Beach. He lists Clutch, Ramones, Sabbath, Rocket from the Crypt, Black Flag/Rollins Band, Hellacopters, Avail, Bob Dylan, MC5, and The Doors as his Top 10 Favorite artist. His musical pet peeve is "Lack of feeling. Anything mass-produced or contrived really bothers me". His favorite part of antiMusic is "The vast array of opinion on the even more vast array of music out there. This site serves a grand purpose, educating all of the mouth-breathers out there about the world of music beyond goddamned MTV and the goddamned radio." Click the full story to learn more about Travis and discover which band name he defines as"two synonyms for toilet," his favorite beers and a lot more!
