EMI At A Loss
FMQB reports: EMI Group has reported a first-half net loss of $57.9 million, which it says is due to a soft album release schedule in the first half of the fiscal year, ended September 30. A statement from EMI reports revenue of £867.9 million, down from £924.6 million in the prior year. "EMI Music revenues declined by 5.2 percent at constant currency, largely reflecting the phasing of the planned release schedule which, as previously indicated, has a greater weighting to the second half of the financial year," reads a statement from the company.[see full story for more including an interesting tidbit about their digital future..]- Click Here for the Full Story

Metallica DVD Details
PR reports: [here is the official press release] Multi-platinum hard rock band and seven-time Grammy-winning artists Metallica will release The Videos - 1989-2004 - the first-ever music video retrospective DVD on Warner Bros. Records, December 5th. With the 1991 release of Metallica (The Black Album) came the Wayne Isham-directed clips "Enter Sandman," which peppered performance clips alongside a nightmarish dreamscape, "Wherever I May Roam," featuring clips from a 1992 San Diego performance, and "Sad But True." Blink Ex Faces Charges
TMZ reports: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the Los Angeles City Attorney is deciding if Paris Hilton is a crime victim and if Shanna Moakler is the perp. TMZ has learned that LAPD has completed its investigation into a smackdown last month at Hyde nightclub in Hollywood. TMZ posted video of Hilton going to the Hollywood division of the LAPD, claiming that Moakler socked her in the jaw. TMZ cameras caught Moakler calling the cops, just before going to the same station and filing a report alleging that Stavros Niarchos, Paris' ex, pushed her down a flight of stairs.

We're told the City Attorney got the case from LAPD yesterday and is now deciding whether to file misdemeanor battery charges against Moakler and Niarchos. The feud between Hilton and Moakler was triggered by Paris' close "friendship" with Travis Barker, Shanna's estranged husband. Days before the incident, a TMZ camera caught Hilton in a passionate lip lock with Barker in the Big Apple.[see full story for more - why should she be charged? Doesn't this fall under 'public service'?]- Click Here for the Full Story

Ronnie Lane's Passing Show
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision subsidiary, will release a poignant documentary on one of the unsung heroes of British Rock, the late Ronnie Lane. THE PASSING SHOW: THE LIFE & MUSIC OF RONNIE LANE will be released on November 7.

Singer/Songwriter/Bassist Ronnie Lane (1946-1997) was a key part (with Steve Marriott) of The Small Faces (1965-1969). When Marriott left to form Humble Pie, Lane joined The Faces with Rod Stewart and future Stone Ronnie Wood (1970-1973), becoming part of arguably the greatest Brit party band in rock history…. The Passing Show features rare performance clips from all eras of his multi-faceted career, and features a litany of great rock talent like Clapton, Stewart, Townshend, Kenney Jones, Ian McLagen, Glyn Johns, Henry McCullough and Joe Ely. Such Lane favorites as "Itchycoo Park," "Stay With Me" and many more are caught in that first full flush of young exuberant rock'n'roll excitement.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Song of a Thousand Birds
PR reports: Translation Loss Records is extremely overjoyed to announce the signing of our first overseas artist, Ireland’s very own singer/songwriter, DECLAN DE BARRA. DECLAN, who has been working as an independent musician since the age of 18, has previously released records and toured the world with his former outfits “Non Intentional Lifeform” and "Clann Zu." His first band "NIL" was released through Roadrunner Records and “Clann Zu” had a number of successful releases released through the politically charged Canadian label G7 Welcoming Committee, home to writers Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn as well as the highly praised “International Noise Consiracy.”

Song of a Thousand Birds, his Translation Loss Records debut solo record, features some of the best in Irish contemporary musicians including 3 songs that feature contributions by his former Clann Zu band mates. DECLAN (vocals, electric & acoustic guitar & percussion) moves easily between delicate pop songs and grand orchestrated reflections, bringing to mind many of rock’s late greats while maintaining his own fresh and original sound. Expect an early 2007 release.[see full story for a taste]- Click Here for the Full Story

Ron Sexsmith With Kiefer For The Time Being
PR reports: Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith has inked a deal with the Kiefer Sutherland/Jude Cole owned Ironworks Music to release TIME BEING on January 9th, 2007 in the US. Sexsmith is the second signing to the label which is distributed by Fontana Distribution. TIME BEING has already been released in Europe and Canada to extraordinary praise. The signing will be celebrated by an intimate acoustic showcase with Ron Sexsmith at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles on November 30th at 7pm.

For the recording of TIME BEING, Sexsmith had a creative reunion with producer Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Suzanne Vega, Paul McCartney). Froom has played a pivotal role in Sexsmith’s career, producing Ron’s first three major label albums and offering valuable advice ever since. For this release, Froom assembled some of L.A.’s best players to frame Sexsmith’s songs with subtle and sympathetic accompaniment. They include Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello’s longtime drummer and a previous Sexsmith sideman), bassist Davey Faragher (Costello, John Hiatt), and guitarist Val McCallum (Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow), with Mitchell himself adding keyboards.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
