Cobra Starship Announce Sassy Back Tour
Atlantic reports: Cobra Starship has revealed details of their upcoming headline tour. The North American itinerary, dubbed the "Sassy Back Tour", will take off on October 7th at Buffalo, New York's Club Infinity, and continue through late-November

Cobra Starship – who are currently on the road co-headlining the Vans Warped Tour – will be accompanied by Forever The Sickest Kids, Hit The Lights, and Sing It Loud.

"Sassy Back Tour" comes hot on the heels of this spring's "The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour." The 50-city trek sold out every date, with demand for tickets so great that the band had to add a second show in many markets, as well as scheduling matinees and playing two shows in one day in both Boston and New York. Since then, the dance-punk sensations have blown it up at festivals around the world, from the Bamboozle and mtvU's Campus Invasion to the UK's annual Give It A Name - more on this story

Supersuckers Go Major League
PR reports: As we wait for the new Supersuckers album to be ready, the band will perform "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the Minnesota Twins game on Wednesday August 13 in Minneapolis.

Here's what singer, Eddie Spaghetti says: Take me out to the ball game...take me out to the crowd! You ever wonder how they decide on who gets to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at the seventh inning stretch at Major League Baseball games? Well, me too! I still can't figure it out even after being asked to do exactly that at an upcoming Minnesota Twins game this August 13th. That's right, the good people in the Twins operation have deemed it appropriate that we, The Supersuckers, will get to partake in this time honored tradition when they take on the Darth Vader of baseball, the New York Yankees, in a day game this Wednesday, August 13th.

The first pitch will be at 12:10 pm Central Time and we'll be doing a little show before then somewhere in the stadium at 10:45. If you'd like to come to this glorious event we will be hooking a few people up with tickets but it's first come first served so get your email requests into chris@supersuckers.com right away for your chance to see The Greatest invade the American Pastime in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday, August 13th, 2008. We will be rooting firmly for the Twins to kick the living crap outta those Damn Yankees so come on out and join us. It'll be lots of fun for sure! - more on this story

The Dears Sign Dangerous Deal
Dangerbird reports: Dangerbird Records and Dangerbird Management have just signed critically acclaimed, Montreal band The Dears to their label and management roster. Missiles, the fourth LP from the orchestral-pop outfit, will be released via Dangerbird Records worldwide, starting October 21 in the U.S. and October 20 in the U.K. and Australia. Maple Records will release the album in Canada simultaneously with the U.S., with additional international territory releases to follow.

Adding a veteran act to their burgeoning roster is a first for the Dangerbird collective. "The Dears make my heart stop. Murray Lightburn says things I wish I knew how to say. That's the kind of stuff that gets me up in the morning as a music fan and an entrepreneur," explains Jeff Castelaz who, with partner Peter Walker, co-founded Dangerbird. He adds: "Peter and I had to have the Dears on Dangerbird. The Dears have something to prove and Dangerbird has something to prove. We're both in mid-swing. This is how and when we want to sign an artist in the middle of their artistic arc. It plays to our strengths."

LCD Soundsystem Spawns Special Disco Version
PR reports: Forget jumpsuits, Studio 54 and John Travolta. The true heart of disco is deeper, and James Murphy and Pat Mahoney want to take you directly into it.

Murphy, the leader of Grammy-nominated dance-rock band LCD Soundsystem, and co-founder of vanguard imprint DFA Records; and Mahoney, LCD's drummer, are taking their love and appreciation for undiscovered disco music on the road, with a 26-date, three-month international tour, under the moniker Special Disco Version. The project is an extension of their hush-hush, roof-shaking parties that, in the past have taken place at NYC's APT and currently resides at NYC's Santos.

"People hear that word disco, and they see bellbottoms and 'That '70s Show.' No, no, no," says Murphy. "This is real liberation music for people who know where to go. This is the real deal." - more on this story

Earth To Chemical Brothers Fans
PR reports: The Chemical Brothers are giving fans a chance to take part in their new music video, all via Google Earth. Fans are to make a 2 to 20 second video using the theme "Midnight Madness". Then, they can submit the video and tag its exact location via The Chemical Brothers website. The deadline is 8/25, but it's suggested the sooner the better. Here is the official announcement:

Ever since their inception in 1993, The Chemical Brothers have soundtracked numerous
special moments in countless people's lives. Whether it's the music of choice for a big night out, or the key moment that kicks the party into ascension, or even the inevitable comedown period in the milky pre-dawn hours, it is nigh on impossible to contest Tom and Ed's enduring impact. We're looking for creative people worldwide to get involved as we bring together filmmakers and artists through the technology of Google Earth. This is an exciting invitation to participate, and you can do so by making a short film clip or photograph that revolves around the theme of 'Midnight Madness'

Make your own short film clip (from 2 to 20 seconds), or take a photograph, celebrating the insanity that goes on at the stroke of midnight and related to the specific point of origin. Then upload it to Google Earth via The Chemical Brothers website, and tag it to its exact global location. To do this you will need to have your own YouTube or Flickr account, and the site will walk you through the process of submitting your content. - more on this story

Whitey Ford Hits The Road
PR reports: Everlast has just announced dates for his national headlining tour, kicking off in Garberville, CA on August 15th, 2008. With his new album Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford, dropping on September 23rd and a recent Emmy nomination, Erik 'Everlast' Schrody may be having the busiest autumn of his career.

The new album, his first since 2004's Island/Def Jam release White Trash Beautiful, "Is totally different than anything I've ever done before," says the Irish-American rapper and singer/songwriter, which is saying something for the Grammy-winning artist who has broken ground and sold millions of albums with his unique mixing of hip-hop and acoustic-based folk-rock.

Everlast has also set his sights on adding "Emmy winner" to his resume, with a nomination in the Outstanding Main Title Theme Music category for his work penning the theme song for TNT's critically acclaimed drama series Saving Grace.

We'd post the dates but they were sent over in the lame "when / where format" with funky spacing, you'll have to go grab them - here

. Jakob Dylan - Seeing Things
Seeing Things is the record people have probably been expecting for years. He is Bob Dylan's son after all, right? This should be a pleasant surprise to many. This is not an attempt to fill his dad's shoes, but just a natural progression that fits like a glove. (4 stars) - Read the full Jakob Dylan - Seeing Things review

. Circus Maximus - Isolate
Circus Maximus are poised to elevate themselves above comparison and influence with their sophomore album, Isolate. All clever wordplay aside, this album is not some smug ego trip but a visceral display of the pantheon of psychology. - Read the full Circus Maximus - Isolate review
