Nevermore Solo CD Gets US Release
Apesh*t reports: After much anticipation, the stunning, inaugural solo effort from NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane will finally see a North American release on May 13th. With this effort one of metal's most defining and revolutionary vocalists further hones his craft to perfection.

Before beginning this new venture Dane went out and surrounded himself with some of the best musicians that he could find. This search ultimately resulted in landing the renowned Peter Wichers (ex-SOILWORK) on guitars and bass, Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK) on drums and Matt Wicklund (ex-HIMSA) on guitars. The effort was also recorded and mixed by Wichers (co-producer SOILWORK).

Dane further comments as to how this solo effort came about: "Right around the time NEVERMORE was recording This Godless Endeavour I started talking to Peter Wichers about maybe doing something together. I think we both wanted to do something different and that's ultimately what got the ball rolling. - more on this story

Gloria Gaynor Has Survived 30 Years
PR reports: After 30 years of its release, Gloria Gaynor continues to ride the success of "I Will Survive," touring the country and the world over and performing her signature song on dozens of TV shows. A few successful remixes of the song during the 1990s and 2000s along with new versions of the song by Diana Ross, Chantay Savage, rock group Cake and others as well as constant recurrent airplay on nearly all Soft AC and Rhythmic format radio stations have helped to keep the song in the mainstream.

Now in 2008, Gloria celebrates the 30th Anniversary of her Grammy Award winning song. The lyrics of this song are written from the point of view of a woman, recently dumped, telling her former lover that she can cope without him and does not want anything more to do with him. The song has become something of an anthem of female emancipation, and is still a staple of office parties and karaoke nights.

This past weekend you may have seen Gloria Gaynor appear on The Food Network as part of Paula's Party where she and Paula Deen cooked up some Chicken ala Gaynor!! Tomorrow, February 27th Gloria will appear on the nationally syndicated talk show Better TV and in the coming weeks she will make an appearance on Fox's highly-rated Don't Forget The Lyrics with host Wayne Brady as well as Showtime at the Apollo. -

Blind Melon Preview
antiMusic reports: Blind Melon have released a new online preview from their forthcoming album. Before we get to the link here is some info on the return on the band, their new CD and tour: In recent years, the tale of Blind Melon has taken a dramatic turn from an abrupt and tragic end, to a rebirth and reconnection with their legion of fans. No matter how you slice it, the group was responsible for some of the most memorable and pure-sounding rock music of the '90s.

And with their reformation in 2007 with singer Travis Warren, Blind Melon are poised to pick up exactly where they left off a decade earlier as evidenced by their forthcoming CD entitled For My Friends set for release on April 22, 2008.

On February 28th Blind Melon are set to embark on a five month U.S. tour, a continuation of what they built in the 90's and the beginning of what they are building for the future. "We couldn't have planned this and we certainly couldn't have forced this. It was meant to be and it was meant to be now," commented bassist Brad Smith. Guitarist Christopher Thorn adds, "We weren't waiting around for Travis to show up in our lives. But when we met Travis, we just knew Blind Melon had to reform and be a band again. We feel so lucky to have this second chance, this new beginning." - Check out the song "Wishing Well"

Dictators Scott Kempner Solo CD Coming
PR reports: Scott Kempner (Ex-Dictators, Del-Lords) finishes first solo album in 16 years. The album called 'Saving Grace,' due June 10 on 00:02:59 Records, features Dion, Frank Funaro (Del-Lords), Mike Mesaros (Smithereens), Ed Greene and Bob Babbitt (Motown) and Ed Pettersen

Black Francis Mini Album Coming
HER reports: Directly from Black Francis himself: Cooking Vinyl has agreed to release my latest session (thank you CV!), which I have called SVN FNGRS, on March 4, 2008 [in the U.S.]. It was written, recorded and mixed in six days, and on the seventh day, Mark Lemhouse did artwork. T

he band for the session was myself, of course, on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Jason Carter on drums, and Violet Clark on bass. The session was produced by Jason Carter. There are seven (7) songs clocking in at 20 minutes and so I suppose it qualifies as a mini-LP under the old formats. No one seems to know or care what the current format models are (a very weakened LP on compact disc continues to rule the roost by default), which is WONDERFUL; so let's just call it music and pay whatever price your Google research turns up. If you want it for free, you can usually find some tracks for free download on my Myspace page or on my own blackfrancis.net.

The production is sparse in terms of the band, which, by the way, seems to be a kind of 'Black Francis' thing that has been developing ever since I went back to the old stage name, but is much more produced in terms of the vocal layering of my own voice, perhaps along the lines of TEENAGER OF THE YEAR. I won't bother you here with what the damn concept is, but let's just say the theme revolves around a lot of NASTY sex, NASTIER death, and beautifully strange birth. - more on this story

Win An Emo Eco Car
PR reports: The Honda Civic Tour is giving music lovers a shot at the ride of their lives by offering them a chance to win a Honda Civic Hybrid designed and autographed by the members of Honda Civic Tour '08 headlining act Panic At The Disco. Beginning Feb. 28 fans can enter to win this one-of-a-kind green machine by logging on to www.hondacivictour.com. Concertgoers will be able to see the car for themselves, and register to win it via an electronic kiosk at each stop of the nationwide tour, which kicks off April 10 in San Francisco.

"Not every band gets the opportunity to customize their own car," notes PATD guitarist Ryan Ross, "which is just one of the reasons the Honda Civic Tour is so cool. We spent a lot of time on the design to make sure it was something our fans would be truly excited about. And this particular car is a hybrid, so you really can't go wrong there."

Panic At The Disco will offer a preview of Honda Civic Tour ?08 when they perform on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" March 25 to coincide with the release that day of their new album, Pretty. Odd. The tour has racked up sold-out shows in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Orlando, with second dates added in those cities. In addition to these locales, PATD and Honda Civic Tour mates Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet can be seen in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 4 as part of the Bamboozle music festival. Also appearing at Bamboozle: that highly coveted PATD-designed Civic Hybrid. - more on this story
