Dandy Giveaway |
With remixes by each of the Dandy Warhols themselves, the EP not only introduces material from the their upcoming album, Earth To The Dandy Warhols (out August 19th on the band's very own Beat The World Records), it also shows off their musical versatility.
The remixes move from spacey dub to edgy electronica but are never forced or insincere: the spirit and energy of the original song is always maintained, it's only the immediate presentation that's changed.

Don't You Forget About Us! Simple Minds Plan New Album |
It is bound to be a rather emotional return as Rockfield is where the band recorded some of their fledgling and most innovative work, specifically both their second and third albums - Real to Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance.
With Jez Coad who co produced the bands last album Black and White 050505 returning to fulfill the same duties, drummer Mel Gaynor and bassist Eddy Duffy will join founder members Charlie Burchill and Jim Kerr - both of whom have spent the last few months writing the set of new songs that are due to be recorded. Andy Gillespie will add additional keyboards.

Get Your Rocks Off With Renminbi |
Acknowledging the sparse use of vocals in the music, Cleveland Free Times boasts that the "intricate instrumental parts are a perfect juxtaposition [to] the minimalist approach Renminbi takes to writing lyrics." Keeping it short and to the point, Milk Milk Lemonade dubbed the album "Solid." The trio will propel their "tense riot-grrrl-informed indie rock" (Time Out New York) down the Pacific with stops in Portland, Olympia and the Bay Area.
Before venturing west, Renminbi will play a send-off show at Lit Lounge on July 19th with Portland's own Purple Rhinestone Eagle. On their return, Renminbi welcome you to "Get Shipwreck'd" when they host the "Summer Sayonara '08" w/ ROCKS OFF CONCERT CRUISES aboard The Half Moon on Wed, August 27th. The boat boards at 7pm and shoves off at 8pm for a trip down the East River to the Statue of Liberty and back, where rocking will occur (in both senses of the word) and we'll even get to see those damn waterfalls!

Rigor Mortis vs. The Earth Round 2 |
Their third and so far final album, "Rigor Mortis vs. The Earth" is a prime example of shredding guitars, light-speed drumming and angry vocals all mixed up in one devastating thrash/punk assault. The first thing that catches the listener's attention is the flawless production, a few steps ahead of the one heard in the debut.
Remastered version of "Rigor Mortis vs. The Earth" will be available in a new digipak edition limited to 2000 numerated copies. The release date is scheduled for 18th August 2008 in Europe and 30th September 2008 in USA (via MVD).

Musical Chairs with Warbringer |
Fortunately, after putting a number of potential candidates through the wringer, the very talented Nic Ritter won the band over with his diverse and technical style. Ritter, 27, had been playing with progressive thrash act Prototype, a band whose song "The Way It Ends" was a bonus cut on Guitar Hero III, since relocating to LA from San Diego. He has also been keeping busy with his death/grind side-project, Bodybag Johnny. Warbringer's recent show in Mesa, Arizona last weekend was his first with the band and from all reports the group didn't miss a beat.

Tonic, Dishwalla, Eagles Members Guest on Andrew Ripp CD |
"All the recordings I had done in the past hadn't really represented me in the way that I wanted to be represented." Musicians Pete Maloney (Dishwalla, Tonic), keyboard player Will Hollis (Eagles), and steel guitar player Eric Heywood (Ray LaMontagne) were brought in to help create an honest record based around Andrew's rhythmic guitar and expressive, soulful vocals.
With "Fifty Miles to Chicago", Ripp aimed to create an organic album reminiscent of those made in the 70's and by artists like Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, and Hank Williams. From the electricity of the organ-driven groove of "Get Your Smile On", to the indie-rock drunken bar sing-along of "The Privileged Life", and the heart-wrenching rock ballad of "Dresden Wine", he does just that.

These Green Eyes To Relapse In October |
These Green Eyes have honed their melody-suffused anthems over five years together and Relapse to Recovery reflects their trials and tribulations while putting a fresh spin on the universal issues of friendship, loss, remorse, and ultimately hope. The tracks vary from a sophisticated world-weary worldview (opener "At The End") to high-octane vendettas (the scream-along chorus of "Sucker Punch") to ruminations on the loss of friendship (the wistful closer "Time Of Our Lives").
The band - Greg Mauro (guitar), Zach Braz (bass), Colin Cunningham (vocals), Mark Brundrett (drums), and Jeff Krenn (guitar) - have shared stages across the country with Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, The Academy Is, Less Than Jake, Silverstein and Gym Class Heroes among others. These Green Eyes are currently playing several all-ages shows in August (see current dates below) and fall touring plans will be announced shortly.
