All That Remains Preview
Prosthetic Records reports: All That Remains have posted two new tracks of music on Myspace from the band's eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, 'Overcome,' which will see a Sept 16. The two tracks, "Before The Damned" and "Relinquish," appear on the 11-track album which was produced and engineered by Jason Suecof (Trivium, Chimaira, The Black Dahlia Murder), mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound (Lamb of God, Annihilator), and features artwork by Carson Slovak (Century, Too Pure To Die, killwhitneydead.).

"This represents the heavier side of ATR," frontman Phil Labonte says. "Last time we did this we put up "The Weak Willed" [from 'The Fall of Ideals'] and we feel like it's a bit of a tradition to really kick you in the nuts when we first show off new stuff! So here is the heaviest stuff we came up with for 'Overcome'. Hope you like 'em." Pre-orders for 'Overcome' in exclusive design packages will be available shortly, with the first 200 orders receiving autographed 11x17 posters.

Meanwhile, ALL THAT REMAINS begins their nearly month-long stint on Vans Warped Tour July 23 in Mansfield, Mass., wrapping up next month in Los Angeles. This marks the first time ALL THAT REMAINS has been a part of the annual summer festival, having already left their live mark on Ozzfest in 2006, Sounds of the Underground in 2005 and the European leg the next year. - Myspace page

Liz Phair Exiled
PR reports: In celebration of the 15th year anniversary of the groundbreaking album Exile in Guyville and its reissue by ATO Records, Liz Phair will perform the entire album at three engagements: August 27 at Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia; August 28 at 9:30 Club in Washington DC; and August 29 at The Paradise in Boston. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 23 via Ticketmaster.

These three additional shows come on the heels of four hugely successful sold out June events - two in New York City and one in each San Francisco and Chicago. Said Jon Pareles of The New York Times in his recent review of one of Phair's Exile in Guyville shows, "After 15 years of other people's indie-rock idiosyncrasies, "Exile" still holds up in all its conflicting impulses: its determination to be 'adamantly free' and its longing for someone to trust, its swagger and its pain." A modern classic, Pitchfork recently gave the album a 9.6 rating while both Rolling Stone and Blender gave Exile in Guyville a perfect score of five stars ("*****").

Exile in Guyville, which was out of print, is again available on CD, vinyl and - for the first time ever - in digital format. The special reissue package includes three never-before-released songs from the original recording sessions: "Ant in Alaska," with Phair simply accompanying herself on guitar, "Say You," which features Phair and a full band, and an untitled instrumental with Liz on guitar. Phair has also just completed a new, 80-minute DVD, "Guyville Redux," for the reissue. - more on this story

Todd Rundgren Sets New Album Release
press here pr reports: Todd Rundgren is set to release his first full-length record of original studio material in 4 years, entitled Arena on September 30th via newly launched music venture Hi Fi Recordings. Rundgren has been on the road in support of the release on a 20 + U.S. city tour this summer which kicked off with a week-long celebration in Hawaii, culminating with the first-ever live performance of Arena in its entirety on Todd's birthday, June 22nd.

Rundgren will also hit the road in support of Arena this fall in Europe and the UK where the album will be released simultaneously to the U.S. A sneak peak of an exclusive album track 'Mad' will be available on MySpace.com starting on July 15th. [gee think the PR was a little late in sending this over?]

Arena, recorded in Todd's current home state of Hawaii, is yet another notable addition to Rundgren's remarkable career as a performer, songwriter, and producer. The album showcases his unique songwriting style and sonically captures the essence and energy of "arena" rock with bombastic, guitar-driven tunes like "Mountaintop," "Strike" and "Mad," while the anthemic song "Mercenary," transports you to a stadium with its epic chorus, "How Do You Like Me Now?," resounding to every seat in the house. - more on this story

In an effort to get ever closer to the band's fans, vocalist Jon Hartman of Los Angeles-based Midnight To Twelve will be checking in multiple times a day on the award winning purveyor of microblog technology Twitter.com. From talking about shaving with a dull razor in a Midas bathroom in Biloxi to watching The Office with the rest of the band on the tour bus, Hartman has taken to this enthusiastically. "Twitter is the number one reason I have unlimited text messaging. Keeps me connected no matter where the road takes me." - more on this story

Righteous Pigs Deluxe
MMP reports: For as long as anyone can remember, Las Vegas known also as 'Sin City' - has always been a home to various lounge artists, cabarets and musical shows. Not much room was left for other genres, especially those from the extreme bunch. Nevertheless, four brave men decided to form their band nowhere else but in the middle of Nevada, among casinos and cat-houses. In 1987 Righteous Pigs invaded Vegas with their filthy mixture of punk rock, grindcore, thrash and death metal, once for all proving that 'Sin City' does not necessarily stand for 'lounge town'

Metal Mind Productions presents the double re-release of Righteous Pigs' two offerings - "Live and Learn" (1998) and "Stress Related" (1990). The band's debut material "Live and Learn" was launched in 1989 and instantly won acclaim on the local metal scene. However, the material was often referred to as badly produced, unpolished, unbalanced and plainly unprofessional. But in fact these were the band's biggest advantages! The raw and sloppy production only increased the amount of aggression on the album, making it a true display of straight-forward brutality. Followed by often hilarious and misogynistic lyrics (and delightful titles such as "Hidden Zit", "Celibate Tease" and "I Hope You Die In A Hotel Fire"), all of the sixteen tracks found on "Live and Learn" had a charming, immature and spontaneous feel to them. Even though the material lasted only 20 minutes, it had enough energy and substance to become a true embodiment of extreme music.

. Funk Brothers - Live in Orlando
I imagine many of these songs are performed in oldies clubs and cooler lounges across the land. But with Live in Orlando, you get a chance to hear some of the fine men who helped build these foundational soul grooves. And it doesn't get much cooler than that. (3 stars) - Read the full Funk Brothers - Live in Orlando review

. The Ocean - Precambrian: Hadean/Archaean
Hadean is a fun album but in reality it is lacking. Paired with a real opus in the central Precambrian album, even the best cuts on offer here simply do not measure up. At twenty two minutes, the good songs to time ratio is a little wanting as well. - Read the full The Ocean - Precambrian: Hadean/Archaean review
