Hannah Montana The Kids Choice
antiMusic reports: Would you be shocked to learn that when asked about their favorites, kids pick Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers? Didn't thinks so, but then again Barney wasn't nominated. Tween today, old news tomorrow. Reuters has the story: Many stars vied for honors at the Kids Choice Awards on Saturday, but only two mattered to the thousands of screaming children on hand.

Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old heroine of the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," and the Jonas Brothers, a pop band comprised of three fresh-faced siblings, were the top draws at the Oscars for the pint-sized set. A-listers like Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz could only look on in bemusement.

Cyrus performed at the 90-minute ceremony, and picked up a pair of orange blimp statuettes for favorite female singer and television actress. The Jonas Brothers were named favorite music group. - more on this story

Achin' For More Aiken CD Details?
antiMusic reports: If you've been achin' for more info on Clay Aiken's new CD, On My Way Here, which hits stores on May 6th, we have some for you- including the tracklist and some words from Clay about where the title came from.

When Clay Aiken and his executive producer Jaymes Foster began the search for songs to record for Aiken's first album of original material since his 2003 debut Measure of A Man, they both fell in love with a song written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan "Alias" Tedder called "On My Way Here." The message of the lyrics how the lessons we learn while growing up shape us into who we become as adults struck such a deep chord with Aiken that it wound up inspiring the theme (and title) of his new collection.

"I thought if we could find songs along those lines, that deal with my life over the past five years and what I've learned from my experiences, it would be a great concept for an album," Aiken says. "Since I got into this business, I've learned so much about myself and about life and the world. I'm nowhere near an expert, but this album has taken on the form of addressing how far I've come in those five years and how I feel like I've found myself." - more on this story

International Pop Overthrow 08
PR reports: Now in its 11th year, IPO lived up to its ambitious moniker from the get go, attracting acts from all over the world for its first few years at the hottest clubs in Los Angeles and Orange County, California. Now it's everywhere, running annually from February through November in cities across the U.S. and Canada: Chicago, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver and even (since 2003) at the famed Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Fans that can't make the gigs at the historic venue where The Beatles first met Brian Epstein and ultimately played 292 shows will have other options closer to home thanks to all the new cities on IPO's burgeoning agenda in 2008. In February, the event took over Atlanta (February 13-16) and Chapel Hill, North Carolina (21-24). Its first stops in Detroit (April 9-12) and Milwaukee (May 1-4) sandwich a marathon run in Chicago April 15-27. Before overthrowing the pop scene in Portland, Oregon for the first time from August 20-23, IPO will hit Liverpool (May 20-26), return to its roots in L.A. (July 25-August 9) and head up to San Francisco (August 12-16).

IPO is also scheduled for Vancouver August 26-30, with dates to be announced for November shows in Boston, New York and Toronto. Festival creator and promoter David Bash now has his eyes set on expanding the event's global reach and in coming years hopes to "set up shop" in cities like Stockholm, Madrid, Tokyo and Sydney.

The Story of Glory Hope Mountain
PR reports: The Acorn's new album is now available in the US on Paper Bag Records! Glory Hope Mountain, the band's sophomore effort, has continued to meet with critical praise as the band has captivated new and old fans alike with incredible performances both at SXSW and on tour.

Glory Hope is a touching homage to the life story of Gloria Montoya Esperanza, as told by her son, Rolf Klausener. Quite the Mother's Day present! To keep with the theme, Rolf did a lot of research on Smithsonian recordings of 50s Honduran Folk Music and West Indian rhythms during the writing of this album. Based on interviews recorded in 2006 and recorded over 9 months, the sometimes haunting, sometimes exuberant tones of the album follow both hope and tragedy in Montoya's native Honduras - a mother dying in childbirth, flash floods, an abusive father - and an ultimately life-affirming move to Montreal in the 1970s.

Following their recent trip to Austin, the band will return to North America once again at the dates - here

Willie Nile Sets Live Releases
PR reports: "Willie Nile is a great artist," exclaims fellow singer/songscribe Lucinda Williams. "If there were any justice in the world, I'd be opening for him instead of him for me." Injustice has its benefits, of course one of which is that it's still possible to see Willie Nile play an intimate venue. It was on one such night, the eve of release of Nile's latest studio album, Streets of New York, that Nile was captured both on audio and video. The resulting CD and DVD (sold separately), each titled Willie Nile Live from the Streets of New York, will hit the streets of the RED-distributed 00:02:59 label on July 8.

The story of the Willie Nile Live from the Streets of New York CD and DVD begins with the release of his comeback album in 2006 titled simply Streets of New York. "Once I picked the songs to record for the album," notes Willie, "I realized they all had a connection to New York City, either by substance, or just the fact that I'd written them all here or was influenced by the city in some way. It wasn't a concept album, but the pulse and electricity of the city seemed to flow through each of the songs in a connecting way."

.... REO Speedwagon: Finding Their Way Home
Despite any reservations you have about them, you can't deny the humbling power they demand and receive from their audience. Check your opinion at the door because when you walk into their show, expect to be bombarded with 100-minutes of pure melodic bliss. - Read the full REO Speedwagon: Finding Their Way Home review

.... Temposhark - The Invisible Line
The Invisible Line is electro-pop that sounds remotely like Soft Cell with crunch synth riffs but the vocals are higher and more engaging, sort of in the Pet Shop Boys area. Overall, this is an amazing record that is not just disposable fluffy pop. (4.5 stars) - Read the full Temposhark - The Invisible Line review

.... Majster Kat - Svarta Zvrhlost
Four words can describe this release indefinitely: technical thrash with balls. Right from the beginning, sweeping riffs focusing on speed and heaviness quickly slice your listening space like bullets in a war zone. - Read the full Majster Kat - Svarta Zvrhlost review
