Black Sabbath Reunite?
(Rock News Desk) Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward have reportedly reformed Black Sabbath and are said to be already rehearsing together.

MetalTalk.net reports the band made their decision two weeks ago and gathered in a studio Monday morning. They're planning to tour and it's believed album has not been ruled out.

The news, if it turns out to be true, will bring an end to speculation the original lineup would get together following the death of Ronnie James Dio last year even though the four original members continually said there were problems with the plan. more on this story

Blink-182 Going Prog?
(Gibson) Blink-182 claim their comeback album, Neighborhoods, will contain the sound fans have always loved them for as well as progressive rock!

Guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge told Canada's Jam Showbiz that Neighborhoods features songs that are, "total throwbacks I mean, exactly what people would know of what Blink is, you know. But then we have these songs that are madly different and experimental. And then we have songs that are like prog-rock Blink."

Regarding the album's title, bass player/vocalist Mark Hoppus said, "We heard Thriller was taken. We heard The White Album was taken and Pet Sounds apparently was taken as well. Who would have thought that?" more on this story

"Crown of Thorns," the first track to be released from the upcoming Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack, was recorded live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on 10/22/2000.

Excerpted from PJ20 CD Booklet: Cameron Crowe: "I asked Vedder about Andrew Wood, the late singer-songwriter of Mother Love Bone, whose passing left the place that Vedder would later fill. Chickenfoot Find New Member?
(hennemusic) Chickenfoot were doing some work on the weekend, as they auditioned a big name drummer to fill Chad Smith's spot for a possible upcoming tour.

Smith, of course, has returned to his duties with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have a new album on the way at the end of the month, just four weeks before the new Chickenfoot arrives.

"We're trying out at the end of the week on Saturday and Sunday [Aug. 6-7], Kenny Aronoff is coming up and we're going to play with him for two days," Sammy Hagar tells Sound Spike. "If it works, we're going to go out in November, I think, and do a buzz tour, play small venues in five cities, [like] New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco. Then, we'll make sure that it works and the chemistry is good. If it is, we'll go out with Kenny." more on this story

David Bowie Done With Music?
(Gibson) David Bowie has probably retired from music, according to British author Paul Trynka, who recently wrote a biography on the now-reclusive singer.

Trynka, a former editor-in-chief at Mojo magazine, says it's unlikely Bowie will ever return to the studio. "My heart says he'll come back, but my head says he's not likely to," Trynka told Spinner magazine. "I think he would only come back if he thinks he could deliver something that will be seismic. If you pop back into the stage, it's got to be something that has a big explosion and lots of flashes. It would be a bit of a miracle if he comes back, but miracles do happen."

Trynka's book, David Bowie: Starman, reveals a little-known rock fact: that Bowie was temporarily a member of The Small Faces, a gig which the author feels may have had a life-changing effect on the singer and his future direction. "That in itself showed what a genius he had for meeting the right kind of people, making friends and influencing people," Trynker said. "This was one of the biggest '60s bands. But he wasn't good enough, he was too derivative, and they threw him out of the band. That alone shines a new light on how he became the person he was." more on this story

Hanson Issue Warning To Kings of Leon
(rock nyc) Hanson's Isaac Hanson issued a warning to Kings Of Leon, one family act to another. According to contactmusic.com, Isaac said,"I have a hard time with musicians who act like pricks because it just makes me mad. I just sit there and I go, 'You know what, dude, no matter whether you're in a band just surviving or you're in a bus playing stadiums, one way or another you're still among the rare breed of people that are actually getting paid to do it.'

"If you're actually making a living doing it, man, pinch yourself every day, because it goes if you don't lobr it and people will eventually get pissed off." he said. "And I'm gonna call somebody out on it the Kings of Leon guys are running some risks. They're irritating people; you can't do that too much. Eventually the bad boy image affects fans' willingness to show up. Their fans will get bummed out.

"Everybody has their demons, everyone has their challenges I'm a bit of a hothead in certain circumstances, but you gotta temper it because your fans are there and they've paid good money to see a show, and you gotta bring it. I don't wash my dirty laundry in public, I do my dirty laundry backstage I have flipped the bird at a few people that deserved it and told them to go 'f' themselves." more on this story

Remembering Robert Johnson
(Gibson) On this day in 1938, American blues musician Robert Johnson died at the age of 27. His recordings from 1936-37 influenced generations of musicians including Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. Gibson looks back: Blues legend, Gibson guitar player and mythical musical figure Robert Johnson was only 27 when he died. Having already made a slew of recordings ("Love in Vain Blues," "Sweet Home Chicago," "Cross Road Blues") that would go on to influence blues and rock players for decades to come, Johnson passed away on this day in 1938.

And the day is the only thing that anybody knows for sure when it comes to the death of Robert Johnson. The blues guitarist died somewhere near Greenwood, Mississippi. It has been said that, in the weeks before he died, Johnson had been playing at a country dance in a town about 15 miles from Greenwood. When it comes to the events that led to his demise, there are more than a few different stories out there.

One tale says that Robert had been hitting on a woman at these dances and that the female in question turned out to be the wife of the juke joint's owner. In one version of the story, she gave Johnson a bottle of whiskey that unbeknownst to her had been spiked with poison by her angry husband. In another version, she was the one who knowingly poisoned him. Still, in another story, she was not involved with the juke joint proprietor, and the bottle was poisoned by an unknown murderer. more on this story

Munky Explains Korn Process
(RockAAA) Korn guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer has compared the way they pen a new track to the way a dog shakes mud off its coat but he insists it is a magical experience.

Munky also says each track is a team effort with each member of the band chipping in with suggestions and ideas until they are each happy with the end product. Chatting to UglyScene.com Munky explained: "When we are creating a song it's somebody comes up with an idea or a riff. Then we build on that and everybody puts their two cents on and then it's like when a dog rolls around in a mud puddle and then shakes himself off.

"There is still some mud there deep down and those are the ideas that stick. You know that you want to try everybody's idea and it's tough in a band because you want your idea to come to life at its fullest and you want everybody else to try their ideas too." more on this story

Black Veil Brides Warping New Fans
(RockAAA) Andy Biersack of Hollywood rockers Black Veil Brides says that taking part in this summers Vans Warped Tour was an eye-opener and an education.

Featuring a host of bands from the hardcore and alternative camps BVB were always likely to stick out like a sore thumb and perhaps even draw some flak from partisan crowds.

In an extensive interview with Bravewords, Biersack was quick to point out that the band didn't feel any pressure to justify themselves: "When you look at the other bands, we're certainly the weird rock n' roll kids in the corner of the lunchroom," he confesses. "We weren't openly accepted by the rest of the tour, but over time people see what we're doing and understand that it isn't a gimmick. We're not trying to shock people with our image." more on this story
