In Addition, the always charming southern rapper and critical darling Lil Wayne has just been confirmed to perform at this year's VMAs. As previously announced, MTV's 25th annual Video Music Awards will be hosted by comedian/actor Russell Brand and will air live and only one time in its original incarnation, on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT). Pop phenomenon the Jonas Brothers have already been confirmed to perform. Presenters and additional performers for the 2008 Video Music Awards will be announced at a later date.
Artists nominated for "Best Pop Video" include Britney Spears for her video "Piece of Me," which is already up for "Best Female Video," Panic at the Disco, Tokio Hotel, Danity Kane and Teen Pop sensation, who are sure to knock the VMAs audience off their feet with their upcoming performance, the Jonas Brothers. Nominees vying for a "Best Hip Hop" MoonMan are Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Flo Rida, Lupe Fiasco and the "Queen of Hip Hop Soul" Mary J. Blige. Beginning on Friday, July 18th, MTV viewers began voting on FNMTV to help choose nominees for the 2008 Video Music Awards. Each Friday night at 8pm ET/PT on "FNMTV," two new categories will be announced and opened for viewers to vote for their favorite artists and videos at vma.mtv.com or from their Verizon Wireless mobile phone by texting the name of the artist to 23882. Categories currently open for viewers voting are "Best New Artist" Video and "Best Dancing in a Video." - more on this story
