Jessica Bendinger combines her past filmmaking experience to give readers the a more complete sense of setting while actually reading the book. The songs featured on the soundtrack were hand selected by Bendinger to be paired with specific scenes in novel. "Music has always been a part of my life and work," says Jessica Bendinger. "I come from a family of musicians, and have lots of roots in the music industry. I listen to music while I write, and this book soundtrack idea was born out of my process: I listen while I edit and write, so why shouldn't the reader have access to that musical world as well?
