The whole incident turned out to be a "glitch," according to The Independent, that led iTunes to post for sale an eight-second Taylor Swift song of nothingness called "Track 3." Fans saw the new track offered as part of her upcoming 1989 album and acted fast - so fast that they didn't even preview the song.
