There are some albums that speak for themselves. The very Best of Prestige Records is one of those albums. Sure, I could take you through this 2-CD set song by song and tell you what this collection is all about. I could do that. But wouldn't it be enough for me to say that this collection features some of the giants of jazz: Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Kenny Burrell? Oh, and that's just on disc 1. Disc 2 features Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Coleman Hawkins, Eric Dolphy, and Dexter Gordon, among others. So, whether you want something cool, or something that works a really good groove, this album is for you. In fact, if you like jazz at all (OK, maybe not smooth jazz), then I can guarantee you will love this collection. In fact, I will go one step beyond that. This is the sort of album that jazz fans will absolutely wear out, and with good reason. It's good music to put on whether you're sitting in traffic, or having a dinner party. This 2-CD set is a must-have for any jazz fan.
