(Guitar Player) Guitar Player magazine has announced that Trey Alexander, a 25-year old musician and guitar instructor from Lancaster, PA was the winner in the publication's second annual Guitar Hero competition. The event was held on Saturday, September 23 at 8:00 PM at San Francisco, CA's Great American Music Hall.

Alexander performed his original progressive fusion song, "The Modern Equivalent," to a panel of celebrity judges including: guitar legend Joe Satriani, session great and Toto axeman Steve Lukather, former Poison and Mr. Big guitarist Ritchie Kotzen, TV's Rockstar: SuperNova house band guitarslinger Rafael Moreira, the fabulous Shredmistress Rynata, and Steve Read of Musician's Friend.
