Essential Judas Priest
Chipsters reports: Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings will release the two-CD set 'The Essential Judas Priest' on April 4, 2006. Judas Priest rocketed out of the tough steel town of Birmingham, England, more than three decades ago, and the 34 songs collected here form nothing less than the very backbone -- the pure essence -- of heavy metal. This uncompromising style of rock 'n' roll has earned a remarkably loyal fan base worldwide and no other band defines heavy metal better than Judas Priest.

All the songs on 'The Essential Judas Priest' are the complete original studio album versions featuring the Halford/Tipton/Downing/Hill axis -- from the 1976 landmark 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' through the astonishing 2005 reunion platter 'Angel Of Retribution'. Ibrahim Ferrer Release
Kayos Productions reports: On January 31, 2006, Locomotive Records will release Toda Una Vida, the first posthumous recording by the revered Buena Vista Social Club vocalist Ibrahim Ferrer (1927-2005).

When American guitarist/producer Ry Cooder kickstarted international interest in worldbeat music by teaming up with director Wim Wenders for the 1999 award-winning documentary, Buena Vista Social Club, it led to a resurgence of interest in the swirling rhythms and salsa-soaked beats of Classic Cuban Sound.

It also revitalized Ferrer’s career. At the time of the movie, Ferrer’s vocal glories were long past. He was living in a decaying apartment, shining shoes in Havana. Buena Vista Social Club founder Juan de Marcos Gonzalez searched for him, found him on a daily stroll, and enlisted his aid.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Jasmin St. Claire Metal TV
Press Release reports: Former adult film and wrestling star Jasmin St. Claire has reinvented herself once again, this time as host of "The Metal Scene TV Show", L.A.'s hottest new heavy metal television show. Reached for comment, St. Claire remarked that "I've been immersed in the extreme metal scene for years- both a fan and a personality via my work as spokesmodel for B.C. Rich and Coffin Case, and more recently as host of the DVD-Zine 'Metal's Dark Side', which is due in stores this spring. I'm honored to add 'The Metal Scene' to my resume. While there is some national profile for mainstream heavy metal and in recent years for Nu Metal, there are literally dozens of sub-genres of metal that go unacknowledged and unheard on any mainstream level every day. I'm excited to be a part of bringing some of the most exciting new metal music from the underground out into the mainstream via this television show." St. Claire's early interviews will include profiles of bands including Children of Bodom, Wycked Wisdom, and God Forbid, among others. Finally, this summer, St. Claire will release her highly-anticipated, tell-all authorized autobiography!
