Cobra Starship Is...
Wenn reports: The mystery behind new punk band COBRA STARSHIP has been revealed - the act is an indie supergroup made up of members from the SOUNDS, the ACADEMY IS and MIDTOWN. The group had many film fans scratching their heads when they landed the theme to SAMUEL L JACKSON's upcoming mid-air thriller SNAKES ON A PLANE. But the one-off act, which has recorded punky theme SNAKES ON A PLANE (BRING IT), features Swedish rocker MAJA IVARSSON, the Academy Is star WILLIAM BECKETT and Midtown's GABE SAPORTA, who wrote the track. Saporta came up with the theme tune while dreaming of penning a summer anthem with pal and bandmate TRAVIS McCOY.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Shoulders of Giants
PR reports: The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) is proud to once again present Shoulders of Giants, a show based on works from Tupac's The Rose That Grew From Concrete, Saturday, July 29 at 7:00 PM, at Georgia State University's Rialto Center for Performing Arts in Atlanta. The eighth- annual show serves as a reminder of the impact the camp has on its 12-18 year-old attendants, all of whom have been touched and inspired by the camp's namesake's legacy.

The TASF Camp was the brainchild of Tupac's mother, Ms. Afeni Shakur, who saw the impact of performing arts on her son and has made it her mission to give back some of that creativity and confidence to students in the TASF program.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

The 12-song Visitations (Domino) follows the band's 2004 effort, Winchester Cathedral, and will include two tracks released earlier this year via their website. One of the songs, "Jigsaw Man," finds the band straying from the confines of the post-indie rock experimentation that pervaded their first three albums into a more organic, acoustic environment. PR reports: Over the last 2 years, Feist has been touring the globe on stop in support of her critically acclaimed album "Let It Die," introducing it to new audience's one show at a time and winning over legions of fans everywhere. It's natural that early adopters are restless for a new release and that role has been filled by "Open Season," a generous 15-track collection of remixes, reworkings, and collaborations. Winger Returns
sleazeroxx reports: Kip Winger and his team are currently very busy putting finishing touches to the WINGER come back album. The record shall be simply entitled "IV" and is confirmed for release during October 2006 on Frontiers Records.

.after years of consideration Kip Winger decided to reunite Winger for a brand new album. This finally happened when he actually "heard" the musical path where he could "move the band sound forward, without repeating the same music over and over". Kip therefore started at the beginning of 2006 to write new material with guitarist Reb Beach who "thought it would NEVER happen! But what we have worked on sounds really good and I have been so excited to be working with Kip on our own stuff again". Kip and Reb called up original drummer Rod Morgenstein and John Roth (on guitar and vocals) and Cenk Eroglu (Xcarnation) On keyboards and sound FX and quickly started the recording session which, at this stage, are almost completed. Winger are currently working on touring plans in USA, Europe and Japan in support of the release of the album - a Frontiers Records world exclusive - scheduled for release in October 2006.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

How Xtina Became Beautiful
antiMusic reports: Last week we posted part of a recent interview with Linda Perry conducted by our very own Morley Seaver. Today we wanted to share another remarkable story that Linda told Morley, this one is about how Christina Aguilera came to record Linda's song "Beautiful" which became a huge hit for her. Here is Linda: That song, I didn't mean to give it to Christina at all. In fact, the way it actually happened was the first time Christina came to my house for the very first time, because at the time I had a studio in my house. And she was very nervous. She was aware of my band I was in and she happened to like my voice, so she was feeling a little insecure, and nervous and vulnerable, and she asked me: "Could you sing me a song to break the ice, to make me feel a little comfortable?" And I said, sure, okay. I had a couple months prior, written "Beautiful" and so I sat down at the piano. And of course that's the song that's closest to my heart, so that's the song I played for her. And she started from across the room and, as the song kept going, she got closer and closer and closer to me. And it was actually very sweet. So by the end of the song, she was standing right next to me at the piano. Can you write the words out and put it on demodemo it down. And I'm all "Why?" Got all defensive (laughs). And I'm all WHY? And she says, because I want that song. And I was like, "No,no, no. this is MY song." And she's like, "It's perfect for me." And I was really taken aback by that. And I called up my manager the next day and said, Christina wants "Beautiful". And she's like, "Well, why don't you just hear her sing it. Just sit at the piano, and let her sing it, and you make your decision from there." And I said, "OK." So I demoed the piano down and Christina came down over the next day. I gave her the words. And again we're all in one room, because that's where my studio was, it was not separated. It was like when you sing, I was right there. And she had a friend with her. The music starts. She literally looks at her friend because she's nervous and says "Don't look at me." And she starts the song. Well when I heard that take go down, I got goose bumps all over me. And I knew that was my vocal. And for seven months I fought for that vocal. So that vocal that made it on the record is the scratch vocal, the very, very first time she sang that song. She was fighting me on that so hard because she's saying "It's not perfect, I didn't even know the song." And I said that's what's perfect about it. You were so vulnerable, and I believe you." I said "Christina, you've got trust me on this." This vocal is going to f***ing sell the song because everybody knows you can sing. But nobody knows you can FEEL what you're singing. And that's why this vocal is so perfect. Because this song isn't supposed to be perfect, Christina." And finally after seven months, she said, "Okay, you're right". And I'm like: "Thank you!" So that was a great example of getting into, finding somebody'ssometimes finding people's weaknesses can be such a strain. And I'm not trying to find people's weakness to use it against them. I'm trying to find their weakness FOR them, so they can grow stronger from it. [You can read the entire interview at the full story link] - Click Here for the Full Story
