Deftones Writing New Material
punkbands reports: The Deftones are still rocking their latest album, "Saturday Night Wrist," around the United States. But they've already started work on its successor, too. Frontman Chino Moreno tells Billboard.com that the Sacramento, Calif.-based quintet has set up a backstage writing room where they're creating new material.

"We're going in there and playing as five of us in the room with just our instruments, no other distractions," he explains. "That's how we started out, basically, when we first started the band -- us in the garage, no ProTools or anything to get us ahead of ourselves. We'd just play things over and over again, until we remembered it -- that's the rawest way you can do it, and the best, I think."

Moreno is also moving on a second album by his other band, Team Sleep, which he says is nearly finished and should be out in early 2008.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

As I Lay Dying Changes
SMN reports: AS I LAY DYING have just announced the title of their new album, and with it confirm the departure of clean vocalist Clint Norris: "We just got back from our recent tour and it's good to be home where we'll start hearing the final mixes for our new record. The new album is called An Ocean Between Us and it is currently being mixed by Colin Richardson. ...I know a lot of you have been asking what is going on with the bass guitar. So, to make it official (and clear up any rumors), here's the story:

While we were writing for the new CD, Clint decided that it was time for him to pursue a career that he will be doing for the rest of his life. He got married about a month ago and now he's going to school to prepare for new things at home. All of us are very happy for him and we had a great time at his wedding last month Shortly after we had finished writing, we had a chance to finish trying out new guys. Josh Gilbert ended up not only being the tightest bass player with the best voice, but he also has become a good friend in the time that we've spent with him on tour together. Josh played and sang phenomenally on the new recording and it feels good to have the person performing on our record be the same person who will be singing those songs live."

Mystery Jets Tour Postponed
PR reports: Mystery Jets Tour Dates Postponed. As much as we'd like to make "Rock n'Roll" out of this situation, we regret to have to inform you that due to VISA issues the lads have had to push back their tour till after the summer.

No folks, they haven't any criminal records nor have failed any government drug tests but have had the unfortunate reality of delays in paperwork and processing. It happens, and to the best of bands quite apparently.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Suzanne Vega Beauty & Crime
PR reports: Over 20 years into her storied career, singer Suzanne Vega shows that she remains one of the freshest voices in popular music today with the release of Beauty & Crime, her seventh album. Revolving around the theme of New York, the city where Vega was raised and still lives, the 11 original songs on Beauty & Crime remind those of us who are old enough to remember "Tom's Diner" (complete with its myriad remixes) why we fell in love with Suzanne in the first place. For a younger generation, this new collection of songs fits in nicely among a the latest crop of artists (Feist, Sufjan Stevens, Coco Rosie) whose quietly strummed sounds are making quite a ruckus these days

From the driving opener "Zephyr & I," which recounts a conversation with the seminal graffiti artist while strolling down West End Avenue, to the ghosts of Lower East Side haunts depicted in "Ludlow Street," to "New York is a Woman," which personifies the city as a hard-luck lady whose beauty still shines, Vega captures the spirit of her hometown's past, present and future. The album also includes two of her most personal songs yet, a love song for her husband ("Bound") and a dedication to her daughter ("As You Are Now"). Beauty & Crime will be out July 17th. Have a preview at the full story link.
