The Used Pimping Limited Edition
ESM reports: The Used have announced a limited edition preorder of their new album Artwork. The exclusive package, of which only 3000 were made, will be available starting today, July 21, 2009 exclusively on www.theused.net. Artwork will be released on Reprise Records on September 1, 2009.

The CD/DVD package contains the full Artwork album, a DVD with behind the scenes footage, a 20-page expanded booklet, an exclusive Artwork t-shirt and a limited edition signed 18x24 band poster. It also includes two never before heard exclusive b-sides: "In A Needle" and "On the Cross (Save Yourself Mix)." The tracks will be digitally delivered on August 25th.

Produced by Matt Squire, Artwork is a raw collection of eleven songs that not so delicately teeter the line between being aggressively discordant and charmingly hooky. "This record is more sincere," guitarist Quinn Allman says. "It's got a sound more reminiscent of the first record. Lyrically, it completely engulfs you and makes you feel safe but it's all about feeling alone and empty and knowing there's always a light. If you're frustrated that much it means you care that much. The music isn't showing off. It's just being what it is. I think the fans will appreciate all that." - buy it here, registration required

High Def Jamiroquai
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment make another great live performance available via the Blu-ray format. On August 4, they will release the first ever Jamiroquai Blu-ray, when Live At Montreux 2003 hits stores.

In 2003, Jamiroquai brought their signature blend of danceable pop back to the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. On this, their 3rd appearance at Montreux, charismatic front man Jay Kay and his crew rocked the crowd for two hours, bringing an eclectic new vibe to the Swiss musical showcase. This visually dynamic Blu-ray concert (originally released on standard DVD in October 2007) truly embodies the concept of "Virtual Insanity" in a good way. In addition to the 15-song set, a bonus track, "Space Cowboy," from their 1995 appearance is also included.

A bold concoction of jazz, funk, pop, electronica, soul, and rock, Jamiroquai has enjoyed massive success, with four #1 albums in the UK. Their debut, Travelling Without Moving, sold over 2.5 million copies when it was first released in 1996, making a name for them in the States as well. Considered one of the most successful British bands of the nineties, their "best of" CD, High Times: The Singles went straight to #1, and sold double-platinum in the UK. Once again, Eagle Rock is spreading the good times to the home entertainment market. - more on this story

Old Canes Return with Feral Harmonic
PR reports: Saddle Creek has announced the signing of Lawrence, KS-based Old Canes and will release the band's sophomore album, Feral Harmonic, on October 20, 2009.

While folk music at heart, Feral Harmonic is far from traditional, with the songs drawing elements from different influences such as indie and even punk rock. The album explores transcending fear, and the human spirit's tenacity when faced with life's complications and challenges. Bold and resounding, the songs run the gamut from barreling and joyous ("Little Bird Courage") to cautious and foreboding ("Trust", "Next Flood") to quiet and wistful ("Southern Radio").

Old Canes architect Chris Crisci (also known as half of Appleseed Cast) constructed Feral Harmonic largely alone in his basement studio. He played the majority of the instrumentation himself with additional help from a cast of musician friends contributing various parts, including trumpet, harmophone, cello, and hammer dulcimer, among other instruments. As recording was regularly interrupted by touring, work, other projects, and life in general, production on the album took nearly three and a half years to complete. - more on this story
