Clapton Speed Bust
antiMusic reports: Eric Clapton may be
called "Slow Hand" for his guitar playing but behind the wheel he is a
speed demon. The legendary guitarist/singer was busted for speeding in
France on Tuesday. French police pulled Clapton's Porsche 9-11 over after
reportedly clocking him at 134 miles per hour. The police confiscated Clapton's
British drivers license, revoking his right to drive in France.
Clapton reported paid a fine that was close to $1000 U.S. and left the police station with his secretary. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
MTV Won't Whack-o anti-Jacko
Eminem Video
antiMusic reports: Michael Jackson has
urged all video channels to ban the new Eminem video which parodies him,
but MTV have decided that the show must go on. Eminem pokes fun at Jackson
in the single and video for "Just Lose It," the first single from his forthcoming
CD "Encore," which hits stores on November 16th. The Jackson camp has lost
it as a result, or at least their tempers.
The video features Eminem as Jackson and he is seen on a king sized bed with a group of young boys dressed in their pajamas jumping around the satin sheeted bed, his nose falls off and his hair bursts into flames, mocking Jackson's famous accident on the set of a Pepsi commercial.
Most music video outlets began airing the video last Tuesday but BET readily agreed to remove the video from their rotation after Jackson protested. BET issued a statement saying they made their decision "out of respect for our longstanding relationship with Michael Jackson that dates back more than a decade." MTV has other plans. In an article on MTV.com about the controversy, the music video giant states that MTV, MTV2 and MTVU continue to air the "Just Lose It" video. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Bruce Dickinson To Host Discovery
Channel Special
Blabbermouth reports: Dickinson's name
might not jump out to pop music fans, but the mechanics knew him as the
voice of heavy metal band IRON MAIDEN.
Dickinson, 46, was lead singer on seven consecutive IRON MAIDEN albums that went platinum or gold during the 1980s and early 1990s.
He's also a commercial airline pilot with an intense interest in aviation, which explains why one of the gods of metal was inside Boeing's cavernous 747 assembly building on Wednesday. Transcendence Release Clothing
Line
press release (TMG Records) reports: The
old-school-meets-alternative rock band Transcendence (TMG Records) are
making quite a buzz these days with their catchy alt-rock radio hit Superhero
Girl, and the flurry of anticipation over their soon to be released CD
Nothing is Cohesive. But the band has found a new slant in their rock 'n'
roll marketing plan; a combination of something old and something new,
much like their music. T-Shirts have always been part of the package for
a band, only this time you can choose from an entire line of over 20 shirt
designs. From their provocative What Can I Do To Sleep With You shirt,
taken from the title of their current album Sleep With You, to a politically
unnerving camouflage T, lets put it that way, this band knows how to get
to the heart of the matter without any fluff.
The band's flamboyant singer Ed Hale, (who has lately been spotted dressed up as an army general protesting the war in Iraq), says that the Sleep With You shirts are the most popular while the Superhero Girl (the current hit off their new album) shirts are selling faster than the band's record label can sell them. Halos Hot Carl Fund
Halos newsletter reports: [Johnny Jones
checks in] Last week Bryan & I are taking a smoke break outside our
studio lyre and we found a cat. His neck had been slashed open, either
from a fight or just some sick a**hole, we don't know. He had been left
for dead. He was a mess. So rather than sacrificing him or eating him we
decided to be good Samaritans and get him some medical attention. He was
supposed to die but the little bastard is going to make it. His voice box
is ruptured so he will never meow again, he grunts & rasps like a cross
between a pig & a crow. And he's going to have a nasty scar. Other
than that, he's bad ass. Needless to say, we have all become very attached
and the Halos now have a studio cat. His name is Hot Carl and Hot Carl
needs your help. Hot Carl needs to eat. Hot Carl racked up some vet bills.
Hot Carl wants more cat toys, because he shreds them to pieces. Buy our
CD and we will make a contribution to the Halos' Hot Carl fund in your
name.

Vixen Return
press release (Fan2Fan) reports: The hard-rocking
female glam metal band Vixen roughed LA's club circuit throughout most
of the 1980s before signing with EMI Music in 1987. Known as the female
Bon Jovi,' Vixen enjoyed national exposure with the 1998 release of their
self-titled debut album and MTV's embrace of the band's first mega-hit,
"Edge Of A Broken Heart." The band's long out-of-print EMI albums, Vixen
and Rev It Up, are set for reissue by EMI Music Catalog Marketing on November
2. The two albums have been fully remastered and will be in stores in time
for the reunion of all of Vixen's original members on VH1's popular show,
"Bands Reunited."
Next month, Vixen's original members, Janet Gardner (vocals), Jan Kuehnemund (guitar), Share Pedersen (bass) and Roxy Petrucci (drums) will all appear together on VH1's "Bands Reunited" to reminisce about their start on LA's Sunset Strip and their rise to fame in the late 1980s, before the onset of grunge in the early 1990s displaced metal at the top of the charts. 2 Cents:
Why I Hate Eminem
[It's Friday, time for Chuck DiMaria to
give us his 2 Cents. This week Chuck tells us why he hates Eminem.]
I hate Eminem.
You know why? Because he gets to say whatever he wants and laughs all the way to the bank doing it.
Oh, that makes me so mad. I hate that guy!
I wish I could do that, too.
I mean, think about it; if I shoot my mouth off here, all I can look forward to is 5Against1, Mama Cass and LithiumBliss giving me a cyber-wedgie. (Sorry, had to give a shout out to all my peeps!) But I'm not gonna make a million off of it, that's for damn sure.
But Eminem is in the rather enviable position of being able to say whatever he wants in exactly the way he wants and is getting away with it.
And making a profit.
And, profit margin aside, there is a lot to be said for Em-Squared to be able to do this. It helps to keep certain people in line.
I'll give you a recent example of just what I'm talking about here: While most others in the media and the entertainment community are rallying behind that pedophile - oh, excuse, alleged pedophile - Michael Jackson, Eminem gets to tell it like it is.
He puts out a video lambasting this piece of garbage - oh, excuse me, alleged piece of garbage - and dear old MJ actually got BET to pull the video.
Which, of course, is absolutely wonderful news to Eminem because it gives him even more publicity and makes him even more money and causes even more people to see that video.
The guy's practically a superhero here.
