GNR April
Day in Rock reports: Live Nation/Clear Channel reports that Guns N' Roses will release the long awaited Chinese Democracy album next month. The report however does not specify where this information came from.

This news comes after weeks of speculation about the imminent release of the album after several tracks leaked and Axl Rose playing the CD for several people. However, nothing official has been announced as of yet but the band are set to play several festivals in Europe this summer.

antiMusic's dolemint offered up a review of the leaked tracks a couple weeks ago. Here is part of what he had to say about the track "Better": This is the third leak, and this song simply puts a smile on my face. It has chart-topper written all over it, but without selling out to today's scene. There's very few songs that I thoroughly enjoy on my first listen, but "Better" can be added to that short list. It's a definite hard rocker that includes a head-bangable bridge with a slight industrial edge, but without Axl sounding like a poseur. With "Better," Axl's shaping a style of current music instead of copying it. Hooks, melody, and the GN'R vibe. Thumbs way the hell up on this demo. Metallica Ozzfest?
BW&BK reports: According to BW&BK sources, the OZZFest/METALLICA rumour is getting bigger. The Bay Area thrashers are "supposed to" announce their North American tour plans when they return from South Africa after their March 25th show at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. Metallica's schedule has them booked for June and two dates in August - one of which (August 13th at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan) coincides with an OZZFest date. However, this leaves Metallica's schedule open between July 1st and August 9th.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Stapp Porn Ban
hecklerspray reports: Today is a sad day indeed - whatever chances any of us had of watching a tape of redneck singer Kid Rock and scrawny God botherer Scott Stapp having sex with four women have vanished entirely.

Because Kid Rock has successfully managed to extend the ban on his manky-sounding sex tape being released. The news will take a load off the mind of Kid Rock and Scott Stapp, who can rest easy knowing that nobody will be able to see them at their most vulnerable and intimate; and also everyone else in the world can relax, too, knowing that the chances of Scott Stapp whining like a girl about the sex tape have been considerably reduced.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Cult Plans
Blabbermouth reports: Launch Radio Networks reports: Does the current THE CULT reunion mean we'll hear a new album from the band?

Guitarist Billy Duffy told Launch that he's not sure whether he and frontman Ian Astbury will record new music or not. "We'll give it a shot," he said. "We've always written songs together. We'll do the same thing, and if they're any good then we'll maybe get them out to the public. You know, there's no grand design, just a really simple process. Velvet Prince
BW&BK reports: VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum (ex-GUNS N' ROSES, THE CULT) has posted the following message on his official web site regarding the songwriting process for the band's second album:

"Had a great day in Drac Studios [Matt's studio] today [Friday, March 17] working with Duff [McKagan, Velvet Revolver bassist] on some songs. We are coming up with some breakthrough stuff. I'm getting excited. One song sounds like a cross between ZEPPELIN and PRINCE. Duff loves Prince. Great riff for Slash. Today we did one that is very heavy with a sick groove. With some synth keyboard part. A la a band called REFUSED. Who we all dig."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
