Million Or Bust |
PR reports: This Labor Day, in NYC, producer/director
Ron Sperling embarked on a 9000 mile road trip around America in an effort
to raise $1,000,000.00 in the fight against Breast Cancer. Sperling is
saddling up on a Harley-Davidson Road Glide loaded with an arsenal of video
gear, and will chronicle the entire ride. An HD lipstick camera, specially
designed and custom made for road safety, will be mounted on the bike,
and together with a hand-held camera, Sperling will document the people,
the places, and the breast cancer survivors who he visits in hospitals
along the way. Ron has vowed not to stop circling the USA until he raises
the $1,000,000.00! Celebrity and motorcycle enthusiast, Billy Joel, will
join Sperling for a portion of the ride, signing Ron's Road Glide bike
that will carry him around the nation's roads and backroads. The Road Glide
will later be auctioned off for the charity at the end of the ride. [Ron
will be stopping in at the Cat Club in Hollywood this Sunday night. Entertainment
Tonight is expected to cover it and all members of the All-Star Happenin
Harry and the Haptones Band will be signing the bike and videos of the
band's performance that night are expected to be sold with proceeds going
to the charity. (antiMusic sponsors Harry's Sunday night shows at the Cat
Club) - see full story for more details]- Click

Paris
Fake Vocals? |
TMZ reports: Conspiracy theorists and cyber
geeks alike are claiming they can actually prove that Paris Hilton doesn't
actually sing on her new hit album. In fact, they're blaming the alleged
vocal hoax on another beautiful blonde.
If you believe a report from radaronline.com,
there's a good chance that the voice heard on Paris' vocals was actually
supplied by Carah Faye Charnow, lead singer of the Los Angeles-based indie
band Shiny Toy Guns.. While a source close to Charnow admits the singer
"did record vocals for Hilton ... on demo tracks," that person denied that
Charnow's voice actually turned up on the finished album. Paris' rep, Elliot
Mintz, also debunked the rumors, telling TMZ, "like so many Internet conspiracy
theories, this one is completely without merit. The voice you hear is of
course Paris' voice."[you can hear evidence at the full story link and

School Shooter |
punkbands reports: One of our readers Christian
Doyon writes: There was a shooting in a college yesterday in Montreal.
One girl was killed, 20 other people were injured. The shooter was wounded
by police officers, and afterwards turned the gun against himself. Witness
report the shooter was wearing a long black trench coat, "punk-goth" looking
and wearing a mohawk.
This is, of course, a tragedy. The guy
was not aiming for women, or specific ethnies. He was just shooting anywhere.
I'm just hoping the media will not fall
in the old "blame punk music" for this violent behavior. Besides, his online
blog states that he likes metal music ( Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson,
Iron Maiden, Danzig and Metallica, but only the "old stuff"). The Columbine
shooters were great Marilyn Manson fans and we all know the medias really
got to the bottom of that story...[see full story for more]-

TMZ reports: TMZ has learned "American Idol"
Season Two finalist Corey Clark has been arrested in Yuma, Arizona. According

a court order and trespassing at his father-in-law's residence. The court
order was issued as a result of a previous domestic violence incident.
Yuma County Sheriff's brought Clark to jail, where he spent 24 hours in
the slammer before being released on bond.
TMZ spoke with Capt. Eben Bratcher of the
Yuma Sheriff's Department who confirmed, "Mr. Clark was charged with two

a court order. Mr. Clark missed his court hearing and a warrant for his

eBay
Metal Ban |
blabbermouth.net reports: Paula Hogan of MANIC
Music & Distribution and Candlelight Records USA has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET
to report that "eBay is [allegedly] currently starting a ban on black/extreme
metal. A few of our vendors who have sizeable eBay stores are now finding
their items pulled down by eBay directly. The list we have compiled so
far that have been pulled for sale via any eBay stores or auctions is noted
below. I'm sure there are more."
Added Dan Ferguson of Indianapolis, IN's
Abyss Records: "I had a number of items removed and account suspended by
selling black metal. It seems a group of so-called Christians have been
reporting black metal bands (even though eBay has black metal as a search
genre) as all racist and hateful and discriminatory." [see full story for

Victory
Vs Band |
punkbands.com reports: Things are getting
ugly. Victory Records broke its silence yesterday and counter-sued Hawthorne
Heights, saying the band is greedy and simply trying to get out of it's
contract. According to the record label's claim, which was posted on mtvnews.com,
"The case filed by the plaintiffs in this action is really about greed,
despite the unfounded and spurious laundry list of allegations made concerning
Victory Records ... and its founder and owner, Anthony Brummel, who are
responsible for putting the group on the map."
It goes on to say "The plaintiffs are now
willing to say anything - no matter how untrue or defamatory - as a strategy
designed to free themselves from their legal obligations to the independent
record label that made them famous, in favor of the 'greener pastures'
and financial inducements offered by so-called 'major' record distribution
companies. Unfortunately, it is a common story in the music business."[...more]-

Drummer
Was Used |
antiMusic reports: Branden Steineckert the
now former drummer of The Used offered up his side of the story of his
departure from the band on his MySpace page. In a blog entry titled "Kicked
Out Of The Used - My Brief Letter" Branden wrote " As you may have heard
I'm no longer in The Used. Quinn, Bert and Jeph have agreed that they no
longer want to play music with me. Im truly sorry that it has come to this.
I wanted you to hear it from me.
It makes me so very sad, breaks my heart.
The band will carry on and I will cherish my good memories. I am so proud
of what the four of us little nobodies from Utah accomplished. We broke
out from nowhere, we overcame so much, some say we helped pioneer a genre.
I feel so very grateful for the things Ive experienced, the touching stories
I've heard from such die hard fans, the incredible people I've met and
places I've been. I'm such a lucky person. The Used fans are so real and
were such an inspiration on stage to look out into your faces and scream,
sing, cry, bleed and sweat together. To anyone who ever supported The Used
during my time with the band.....I thank you sincerely. I don't know what
else to say..." [you can read the rest at the full story link] -

Drugs
= Thugs? |
Gigwise reports: A new study has revealed
that people who listen to DJ-based dance music are more likely to take
drugs than anyone else. 2,500 people were interviewed for the study carried
out by the University of Leicester, which assessed various aspects of their
lifestyle in relation to their musical tastes.
Hip-hop and dance music fans are more likely
to have had more sexual partners over the last five years, and they also
topped the drug-tasters list. Dr Aiden North told the BBC: "It comes out
in the study that, in these types of music (hip-hop and dance), fans score
worse in various behaviours, such as criminality, sexual promiscuity and
drug use. It was shown that this had nothing to do with their ethnic backgrounds.
The behaviour was linked purely to musical taste in its own right." [see

Label
Vs MySpace? |
TuneLab reports: Universal Music Group CEO
Doug Morris has called YouTube.com and MySpace.com "copyright infringers"
for allowing the free streaming of its artists' music videos. In a speech
to Merrill Lynch investors Morris said,
"The poster child for (user-generated media)
sites are MySpace and YouTube. We believe these new businesses are copyright
infringers and owe us tens of millions of dollars. How we deal with these
companies will be revealed shortly." [How dare they help promote your albums!
