Britney Sex Tape - A Top Story This Week
antiMusic reports: A Britney sex tape? As you can guess, this one easily became the 2nd biggest story this week. Here is the Gigwise story: Things have just gone from bad to worse for Britney Spears with new reports emerging that the pop-tart has been caught up in yet another sex tape scandal.

Just one day after losing primary physical custody of her two children to ex-husband Kevin Federline, an unnamed 28-year-old man has confessed his sex tales with the 25-year-old to a U.S. tabloid magazine.

The mystery man - who bedded Spears while she was vacationing on Hawaii in June 2007 claims to have caught their sweltering one night affair on tape. However her one-night-stand man claims that he has refrained from releasing the tape because of his slapdash performance.- more on this story

Tawn Mastrey RIP - A Top Story This Week
antiMusic reports: This week's third most read story was the sad news that legendary metal DJ Tawn Mastrey pasted away on Tuesday. It really hit home here at the Day in Rock because I practically grew up, as did most southern California rockers, listening to Tawn on first KNAC and then Pirate Radio. She will be greatly missed. Here is the story from KNAC.com:

Legendary rock dj and original member of the KNAC family, Tawn Mastrey died at 10:35pm (Central) on Tuesday, October 2 in Minneapolis at the age of 53. She had been suffering from the effects of Hepatitis C which she contracted as a child.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced soon. All of us here at KNAC.COM send our heartfelt sympathy to her family.- read a tribute that KNAC posted

Gilmour Dismissed Floyd Reunion Rumors - A Top Story This Week
Contact Music reports: DAVID GILMOUR has no plans to regroup with his PINK FLOYD bandmates again, despite getting fans' hopes up when the legendary rockers reunited for a one-off Live 8 performance in 2005.

The guitarist's infamous rift with bandmate Roger Waters caused the rockers to split in the 1980s, but Gilmour has dismissed speculation of a Pink Floyd reunion because he's more interested in his solo work.

He says, "What I've been doing for the last couple of years - what I was in the middle of when Live 8 came along - was my album, and that's what I'm thinking about. "I can't see why I would want to be going back to that old thing. It's very retrogressive.- more on this story

It had been hoped that the band would extended their one-off show at London's O2 Arena on November 26th to allow more people to see the veteran rockers make their comeback.

Plant has now definitely ruled out the prospect of more dates, however, saying: "We need to do one last great show, because we've done some shows and they've been crap."- more on this story

Love Settles Nirvana Suit - A Top Story This Week
Metal Underground reports: Courtney Love settled a lawsuit brought against her by the attorneys who represented her in her own legal battle with the surviving members of NIRVANA, according to Seattle Weekly. Katherine Hendricks and O. Yale Lewis claimed that Love owed them more than $340,000, plus interest, for their work on a 2002 suit that Love filed against NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl. Love, who controlled the share of NIRVANA's business that had belonged to her late husband, NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, allegedly did not fully pay her lawyers even though she eventually earned at least $9 million as a result of that suit.

Love settled with Hendricks and Lewis for an undisclosed sum. The settlement was effective as of Monday, September 17. The case was scheduled to go to trial on Wednesday, September 19.

According to court records, Love had paid the Seattle-based attorneys more than one million dollars in the NIRVANA suit, but still owed them $341,000 plus as much as $200,000 in interest.- more on this story

To ship in Decmeber, the discbox will include a hardcopy of the LP, an enhanced bonus CD with an additional 8 tracks, various photos/artwork and lyric booklets all wrapped in a beautiful package. Placebo Lose Member - A Top Story This Week
Gigwise reports: Placebo drummer Steve Hewitt has quit the band after over a decade with the group. The decision is understood to be an 'amicable' one between all the members of the band.

Announcing Hewitt's departure on the band's website, Placebo frontman Brian Moloko explained: "Being in a band is very much like being in a marriage and in couples - in this case a triple. People can grow apart over the years."

He added: "To say you don't love your partner anymore is inaccurate considering all that you've been through and achieved together. There simply comes a point when you realise that you want different things from your relationship and that you can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak."

Underoath Injury - A Top Story This Week
MSO reports: As Underoath cross the U.S. on their headlining fall tour with Every Time I Die, Poison The Well and Maylene & the Sons of Disaster, they encountered an unexpected challenge at Sunday night's show in Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie had to undergo emergency surgery to treat an infection in his hand.

In order to avoid canceling a slew of tour dates (including some high-profile shows), the band enlisted the help of drummer Kenny Bozich--a long-time fan of Underoath who was recruited by Gillespie to join his solo project The Almost. Luck was on Underoath's side, as they had to track down Bozich while he was hiking in the mountains of Utah.

Bozich left the mountains with just enough time catch a flight to Las Vegas that landed 25-minutes before Underoath would take the stage Sunday night at the House of Blues. The band texted Bozich a set list and he listened to the songs nonstop on the flight. The group and Bozich had less than 5-minutes to talk before they took the stage, the band and Bozich managed to still play a strong 40-minute set.-

Fans Vs Zeppelin - A Top Story This Week
Gigwise reports: Gigwise has been inundated with messages from Led Zeppelin fans who are angry with Harvey Goldsmith's announcement that no-one will be able to attend the o2 Arena without positive ID matching their sign-up name.

The promoter seemed un-phased by news that unique ticket codes given to successful ballot entrants were being sold for over the odds prices, claiming anyone who buys one won't be able to attend.

However, Led Zeppelin fans have now turned on him claiming that it's the fans who are the victims here and not the touts organisers are apparently trying to clamp down on. In a direct letter to Gigwise, Led Zep fan Felix Carassco who has bought a ticket code, said: "I find it a disgrace that Harvey Goldsmith is going after the real fans after he is only selling 10,000 tickets for a 20,000 seater arena. I am sure that the other half will be going to his company and friends and a good few thousand 'guests'!- more on this story

Van Halen Add Dates - A Top Story This Week
antiMusic reports: Van Halen sent over an update. Most of it is recapping reviews so we'll skip most of that but of interest is that two new dates have been added in Vegas. With a blazing and defiant guitar run, rock legends VAN HALEN lit the torch on the opening night of one of the most highly anticipated tours in rock history.

More than 18,000 fans, including those lining the rafters, stood on their feet at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, as original lead vocalist David Lee Roth took the stage with the band. It was a celebration of more than 22 years in the making.

And the capacity crowd in Charlotte answered the age old question. Yes, everybody wants some. Shows in other cities including LA and New York sold out in minutes. Two brand new dates have also been added to the tour.

PR reports: Taking Back Sunday would like to announce that vocalist-guitarist Fred Mascherino has decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career. Mascherino joined Taking Back Sunday in 2003 and appeared on the band's gold-certified albums Louder Now and Where You Want To Be.

"There's a creative spark that comes in this part of the process and for a band there's nothing better than when you hit it and start having two hour conversations about music," adds bassist, Matt Rubano. "That's where we are and we're excited to challenge ourselves and see what the future holds."- more on this story

RIAA Win Fan Piracy Case - A Top Story This Week
antiMusic reports: Recording Industry vs The People delivers some pretty big news "The first-ever jury trial for the RIAA, in Vrigin v. Thomas (renamed Capitol v. Thomas after Virgin Records withdrew from case), has resulted in a verdict against the defendant, Jammie Thomas, in the amount of $220,000." The fine was for 24 songs the RIAA claimed the defendant illegally made available online.

Recording Industry vs The People's editor added this opinion: I'm sorry to hear that Ms. Thomas lost, but I don't think the case is over by a long shot; the verdict -- based as it upon an entirely erroneous jury instruction going to the very heart of the case -- will almost definitely be set aside on appeal.

The heart of that claim comes from this report by the site: It appears that the RIAA lawyers forgot to notify Judge Karas, the presiding judge in , that a decision they'd sent him in August was vacated a week ago. Read more about both cases - here
