Pete Doherty Silenced
NME reports: Pete Doherty's headline set at V Festival Stafford's VMU Tent Sunday (August 23) ended in chaotic style after the Babyshambles man had the sound turned off on him.

Despite coming onstage on time and playing a 17-song set, Doherty and his solo band had the sound pulled on them during their final song, a cover of The Beatles' version of 'Twist And Shout'.

The band attempted to play the song with no electricity, but couldn't be heard above the crowd so gave up. Doherty, visibly perplexed by the decision to cut the music, then shrugged his shoulders and mouthed that he was sorry to the audience, before exiting the stage. - more on this story

Warbringer Reunites With Andy Laux
PR reports: Returning from a 5-week European tour earlier this month the guys in Warbringer are enjoying their first break in schedule in quite some time due to a relentless touring and recording schedule that has seen the band release two albums and criss-cross the US, Canada and Europe 9 times in 18 months.

With three weeks of respite the band has decided to replace bassist Ben Bennett with original bass player Andy Laux. Andy recorded the group's debut, War Without End, but was unable to join his band mates for any of the touring due to him still being in high school. Now with his studies complete Andy has been focusing on sound engineering and even built his own home garage studio but will rejoin the guys for future touring and recording.

Andy had this to say, "After parting ways with WARBRINGER a year-and-a-half ago I never would have seen this coming but circumstances have left the band in need of someone to handle bass duties. When I was asked to fill the position how could I refuse? The members of WARBRINGER are my good friends and (literally) my family so the choice was obvious, I look forward to catching up with the fans, seeing some familiar faces, but most of all thrashing every venue this side of the solar system!

Redemption Set Rocktober Release
PR reports: Redemption is one of the leading progressive metal bands in the world today, a fact which is further solidified with the release of their much anticipated fourth full-length release, Snowfall On Judgment Day, which is now set for an Oct. 6th North American release via Inside Out Music.

Redemption's combination of heaviness, irresistible melodies and emotional urgency has created a unique and resonant voice for this band that sets them apart from the many clones in the genre, and which has gained them the attention of fans, critics and musicians worldwide.

Nicolas van Dyk further comments: "We're very excited for the release of our fourth CD. We've continued to push the envelope of our unique combination of aggression and melody and the result is our heaviest and also our most melodic CD to date. There's a healthy variety in the songwriting, ranging from very heavy tracks to more 'proggy' songs, all of which share the melodic focus and emotional urgency that make our signature sound. We've had the opportunity to play a lot more together prior to the recording of Snowfall and I think the band is both organic sounding and tighter than ever. It's a record we're really proud of and we're glad to get it in the hands of our fans." - more on this story

Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O Goes Wild
PR reports: Inside Karen O is a Wild Thing as singer for the Grammy-nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs, her wild thing is in your face, vulnerable, obnoxious, tender, exciting a self-proclaimed "spazoid." However, to Oscar-nominated Where the Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze, Karen O and her music possess a child-like innocence, a guileless charm that put her exactly on the right emotional wavelength to sonically capture the highly-anticipated film.

To compose music for the film, O enlisted friends and fellow musicians she believed had the musical intuition that would bolster her intent to marry sound to vision.

Dubbed Karen O and the Kids, the kids include Tristan Bechet (Services), Tom Biller (co-producer with Karen O and member of Afternoons), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter), Brian Chase (YYY), Dean Fertita (The Dead Weather), Aaron Hemphill (Liars), Greg Kurstin (The Bird and the Bee), Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather), Oscar Michel (Gris Gris), Imaad Wasif (New Folk Implosion), Nick Zinner, (YYY) and an untrained children's choir. - more on this story

God Dethroned To Launch War Propaganda World Tour
PR reports: God Dethroned will be assaulting North America for the first time since 2007 on the headlining War Propaganda World Tour 2009 in support of their newest album, Passiondale.

Henri Sattler and co. will embark on the coast to coast campaign starting on September 30th. Joining the march will be Abigail Williams, Augury and label mates, Woe Of Tyrants!

Henri Sattler comments on the tour: Our "Storming the Balkans" tour which we did about a month ago was a test. A test to see if our new band members, Susan and Mike, would be the right people to have in the band for the long tour we have ahead of us. A new world tour starting on September 3rd in Brazil leading us through Peru, Ecuador and Colombia up to Mexico for the first leg of our "War Propaganda World Tour 2009". I'm happy to say that they passed the audition well. On the South American shows, we will be accompanied by Elexorien from Holland and in Colombia also Belphegor will make their appearance. The Mexican shows will be with Entombed, Vital Remains, Master and Lividity o.a. - more on this story

The follow up to their debut eponymous release, showcases the band's most creative and forward thinking songwriting to date. Having stunned many a crowd with their enraging live sets, at festivals like North By Northeast and Canadian Music Week, the Toronto favourites will release the new EP with a CD release party at Sneaky Dee's in Toronto on September 25th.

. On The Record: Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson - Relator (7 inch single)
Relator is a brief 2 1/2 minute taste of Break Up, the upcoming full album from Yorn and Johansson. Lyrically the song seems to presage the break-up referred to in the album title as Pete and Scarlett take turns singing the refrain You can leave when you want to to each other. - Read the full Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson - Relator (7 inch single) review

. Sweet Water - Clear the Tarmac
Anybody who has a band member that beat the crap out of Scott Weiland is ok in my book. Jack White said so himself in an interview after the fight so it must be true. Sweet Water has other redeeming qualities, like they are still relevant in a world of ADD musicians and mainstream music divas. (4 stars) - Read the full Sweet Water - Clear the Tarmac review
