Iron Maiden Cancel Retirement Plans
SleazeRoxx reports: Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have abandoned plans to quit after their next album, insisting they'll keep rocking well into old age. Just last year, bassist Steve Harris suggested the group was close to disbanding, and that band members would walk away after the next release.

He said, "We've always said we're only going to do 15 albums; we're coming up to it. There's going to be an ending point."

But guitarist Adrian Smith reveals the group has experienced a shift in opinion as it celebrates its 35th anniversary - and band members have decided to keep on recording and performing. - more on this story

My Ruin's Tairrie B Still A Blasphemous Girl
PR reports: Lead screamer Tairrie B of the Los Angeles based hard rock band My Ruin has launched a new website/blog and online boutique store for 'Blasphemous Girl Designs' to celebrate her first new collection of 2009 which is an eclectic range of one of a kind, hand crafted jewelry designs and conversational pieces that she refers to as wearable art created for the individual at heart.

Tairrie, who has always been heavily inspired by religious iconography within her lyrics and art surrounding My Ruin began BGD as a cathartic accident a few years back when she was designing merch for her band, making custom themed items for shows and tours. Soon she went from customizing rock t shirts with her subversive slogans to leaving her trademark on everything from motorcycle jackets to denim vests.

This being her first collection since her car accident in 2006, Tairrie is re-introducing BGD by creating over 100 pieces of jewelry for her launch based solely on mixing vintage metal chains, antique liquor tags, keyhole plates, patron saint medals, milagros, cameos and various antique religious keepsakes into unique religiously rock & roll inspired covet worthy adornments such as pendants, oversized cocktail rings, relics, wristbands and ex-votos but it is her limited edition stained and cut stamped leather hearts which she has hand painted in honor of the original she created for the cover of MY RUIN's latest album and 5th full length offering 'Throat Full of Heart' that are her true statement pieces. - more on this story

Famed Producer Rick Harte Returns With Heat from a Dead Star CD
PR reports: Ace of Hearts Records, Inc. announced today the release of "Seven Rays of the Sun," a new CD from Heat from a Dead Star. Rick Harte, whose signature work with Mission of Burma, The Lyres, and The Neighborhoods defined the iconic Boston Sound of the late '70s and early '80s, produced the effort.

The Heat from a Dead Star (HFADS) sound has been likened to a broad range of precursors: from the psychedelic noise-rock of Butthole Surfers, to the wall of sound of My Bloody Valentine. Perhaps the most inescapable analogy is their Ace of Hearts label-mates Mission of Burma. Like Burma, HFADS weaves a dense, demanding and chaotic tapestry together with tuneful, compelling and at times almost poppy melodies.

This stirring collaboration between the acclaimed post-punk producer and the London-based trio is exactly the sonic assault Harte fans anticipate, as flashes of inspired song craft punctuate "Seven Rays of the Sun." The haunting and lilting piano of Burma's Roger Miller slowly emerges from behind the closing curtain of sound in "Seahorse Seafish." The electronic drum sounds on "Elusive Ways" are deliberately low-tech, while the jangly, sour-sweet guitar rhythms of "Messy Kid" will remain on your mind. - more on this story

UltraChorus Debut
PR reports: The duo known as UltraChorus is Chris Heidman and Jeff Lorentzen. The two spend nearly everyday in their Minneapolis SoTM studio composing and making beats at an Olympic level.

Now they bring you the debut single, "Words Kept Talking", available only on 7-inch vinyl and digital download. Chris' background is in cut and paste indie rock while Jeff is a product of late nineties Hip-Hop and R&B. The sound is electronic, but within each song there is something analog and organic that makes it feel familiar.

Chris began his career as half of the late 90's electro indie band Sukpatch, pioneering beat driven music for the twee set by way of the Beastie's Grand Royal label. After a small bit of indie cult status was achieved, Sukpatch laid down their samplers and called it done in 2004.

mSpot Giving Away Ringtones
mSpot reports: That moment 12 seconds into "I Kissed a Girl" when Katy Perry sings about the moment she "got so brave;" or 1:30 into "Heartless" when Kanye raps to his lover, "How could you be so Dr. Evil?" These might be your favorite parts of the songs, but how can you get them as your ringtones? Today it just got a whole lot easier. Mobile music and entertainment company mSpot introduces mSpot.com, the mobile music site that lets users personalize their phones by turning their favorite part of any song, up to 30 seconds long, into a ringtone.

How does it work? Users pick a song from mSpot's catalog of over 400,000 titles, and use the site's simple editing tool to drag the start and end points to capture up to 30 seconds of their favorite part, even adding an optional fade in and out feature at each end if they like. Once the highlighted piece is finalized and previewed, users save and download the cut as a ringtone for $2.99 a pop. Takes about one minute, start to finish, and users don't need to download software or subscribe to a service.

To celebrate the launch of mSpot.com, mSpot is giving away ringtones while supplies last. Users can visit www.mspot.com and click on the "GIVEAWAY" tab to get their complimentary custom ringtones. - more on this story

. U2 Month: Zooropa
Zooropa is the cherry jello in the U2 buffet. A tulip among the roses. Recorded while U2 was in full flight on the ZooTV tour, Zooropa is the strangest and yet one of the most accessible of u2 albums. - Read the full U2 Month: Zooropa review

. Brigham Bachman
I never review demo tapes but this one was so exceptional I couldnt resist being the first one to tell you about it. Brigham Bachmans sound has shadows of the mid 70s and he can croon with a soothing warm-as-apple-pie vocal or he can bring the rock. - Read the full Brigham Bachman review
