Crematorium Go West
PR reports: Long running death metal / hardcore stalwarts Crematorium have just confirmed a handful of west coast dates. The shows include dates with Brutal Truth, as well as Goatwhore and an appearance at the Los Angeles Murderfest.

Crematorium is currently writing and demoing new material for an album that should surface around the end of the year. Vocalist Daniel Dismal had this to say about the shows and the new material:

"I am excited to be sharing the stage with longtime friends Brutal Truth and Goatwhore, as well as showcase some of the new material we have been working on. I never thought I would see the day where the death metal/hardcore hybrid scene would become so big. We decided now was the time for us to become more active, playing more shows and writing new material. I feel that this is Crematorium's most volatile and concise music to date. We can't wait for people to hear our next step in the evolution of the band." - dates

White Wizzard Have An Earache
Hooked on Caps Lock Records reports: WHITE WIZZARD, LA's high-energy, NWOBHM-influenced metallers - who could be described as a cross between DIAMOND HEAD and VAN HALEN - have signed a worldwide, multi-album deal with Earache Records.

WHITE WIZZARD formed in 2007 and shortly afterwards recorded their HIGH SPEED GTO demo, which only made it into the hands of a few select fans. Following a brief period of inactivity, the demo fell into the hands of Earache Records and the "High Speed GTO" song was included on HEAVY METAL KILLERS, a compilation featuring 13 tracks from the best new traditional-sounding heavy metal bands. The band have since regrouped around band leader JON LEON with a new line-up. Earache is set to release the HIGH SPEED GTO tracks as a mini-album this Summer, with the band working towards a full album due later in the year.

WHITE WIZZARD's 2009 debut is driven by catchy riffs that aim straight for the hips and the heart. The band is lighter than the norm - there's a nimbleness to the WHITE WIZZARD attack and genuine commercial hooks race through all seven songs on the HIGH SPEED GTO mini-album. - more on this story

DeeExpus Set DVD Release
MMP reports: British band DeeExpus revealed the title and cover of their forthcoming DVD. Their first DVD entitled "Far From Home" will be released by Metal Mind Productions on 8th June in Europe and 16th June in USA (via MVD).

This talented band has so far released only one studio album, but they can easily say... 'the future looks bright for us'. With their superb performance at the first edition of Prog Rock Festival at the Wyspianski Katowice, Poland, the band show that they do have much to say on the prog rock scene.

DeeExpus's music constitutes a modern approach to the genre, more rock-oriented and catchy, yet formed with undeniable finesse and attention to sound and musical nuances. Their sound is as eclectic as their influences, drawn from years of listening to such groups and artists as Joe Jackson, Iron Maiden, It Bites, Crash Test Dummies, Rush, Nik Kershaw, Marillion and recently - Porcupine Tree and Spock's Beard. If you happen to think that prog rock is an old and stagnant genre, DeeExpus are surely going to prove you're wrong! - more on this story

Remember the Alamo Music
PR reports: Releasing just in time for Texas History Month, The Music of the Alamo: >From 19th Century Ballads to Big-Screen Soundtracks by William R. Chemerka and Allen J. Wiener (Bright Sky Press, Feb 2009) traces the musical history of the Alamo and offers the only complete discography and detailed title list of written or recorded songs about the Shrine of Texas Liberty.

For 13 days in 1836, a small band of Texan and Tejano defenders, including Davy Crockett, William B. Travis, and Jim Bowie, stood their ground inside the Alamo against an overwhelming Mexican force commanded by Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. In the decades that followed, the valiant struggle of the gallant garrison resonated from sea to shining sea.

Not only has the stirring story been told in literature, but it has also inspired a wide range of music. From 19th Century folk ballads, minstrel show tunes and orchestral marches to recent pop chart hits, children's songs, theatrical productions and big-screen film scores, every generation has heard melodies that helped them "Remember the Alamo!" - more on this story

. U2 Month: Pop
