Day in Rock Part 2

Video From AC/DC With Axl Rose Hamburg Show Goes Online

(hennemusic) Axl Rose performed his seventh concert with AC/DC on the Rock Or Bust tour in Hamburg, Germany on May 26 and video from the show has been posted online.

The event at the city's Volksparkstadion delivered a 23-song set that saw the return of "Riff Raff" from 1978's "Powerage" to the encore after it was replaced in Prague on May 22 by another Bon Scott-era rarity making its first appearance since 1979, "Touch Too Much" from "Highway To Hell."

AC/DC recently extended their European tour with a newly-announced show in Dusseldorf, Germany on June 15. The concert at the city's multi-functional football stadium Esprit Arena adds a 13th date to the spring run which features Rose stepping in to handle vocals in the absence of longtime member Brian Johnson. Ghost Community Streaming New Song 'Rise Up'

(Prog) Ghost Community have released a lyric video for their track "Rise Up". The song comes the band's upcoming debut album Cycle Of Life, which is due out June 24. It was mixed and produced by The Pineapple Thief's Bruce Soord.

It was originally due to launch this month, but the band decided to push the release back to ensure they delivered the best product they possibly could.

They say in a statement: "We have been quite overwhelmed by the amount of pre-orders we have received. It's very humbling to know that you lovely lot have faith in what we are trying to do. You really are a special and wonderful, bunch.

"We had penciled in the release date for May but we are putting the official release date back by a month. There can be no shortcuts, no half-arsed efforts and no regrets. We need to make sure that all aspects of the music and business side are firmly in place." Check out the new song here.

Katatonia's Jonas Renkse Talks Latest Album The Fall Of Hearts

(TeamRock Radio) Katatonia vocalist and guitarist Jonas Renkse says studio sessions for latest album The Fall Of Hearts were some of the smoothest the band have ever experienced.

The follow-up to 2012's Dead End Kings launched earlier this month - and Renkse credits new members guitarist Roger Ojersson and drummer Daniel 'Mojjo' Moilanen for helping in the recording process.

He tells Metal Underground: "It was the first album to feature our new drummer Daniel Moilanen. This recording was actually one of the smoothest we have had so far. The vision was strong and we all worked hard to reach the goal that we had set up for ourselves.

"Lyrically my aim is always to make them go hand in hand with the music, so every song needs to be as complete as possible before I finalize the lyrics - but it's pretty much the same topics I have always used: contrasts, darkness, the inner struggle that we all can relate to from time to time.

"I want to portray them in sometimes a beautiful way, and sometimes a more haunting, unsettling kind of way. Sometimes a mix of the two." Read more here.

Adrian Belew Excited About Work On New Pixar Short 'Piper'

(TeamRock Radio) Adrian Belew says he's thrilled with his work on Piper, a short movie by animation studio Pixar that features his music, which is set to be released next month.

The six-minute production tells the story of a small bird that lives on a beach, and must challenge herself to find food while avoiding treacherous waves. It will be screened before Finding Dory, the full-length sequel to 2003's Finding Nemo.

Describing Piper as "possibly the studio's cutest character creation yet," Belew says: "I've visited Pixar four times and it never ceases to thrill me - so much creativity and technology in one place." Read more here.

David Bowie's Son On The Loss Of His Father

(Radio.com) Since David Bowie passed away in January, his family has remained mostly quiet about his death--allowing his legacy to speak through his work and the outpouring of appreciation for his artistry.

This week, Bowie's son Duncan Jones appeared on the Nerdist podcast and explained that before his father died, they both had time to connect and make peace with the icon's failing health.

"I'm OK, I'm good," he said. "I was very fortunate, we got a chance to say our goodbyes. It's a weird one for me, I don't really know how to talk about it or what to say about it - other than the fact that we got a chance to say our goodbyes.

"Weird things make me miss him, but it's still early days. I'm sure I always will, but it's tricky. He was a big gravitational pull in my life as far as who I saw myself as. How I separated myself from the world and how I saw myself." Read more here.

Lemmy Saved the Day For Clutch

(Classic Rock) Clutch guitarist Tim Sult has recalled how Lemmy came to the rescue when Dan Maines' bass guitar was lost by an airline. Clutch and Motorhead were on the same bill at Germany's Rock IM Park in June of last year. But Maines' Rickenbacker bass was misplaced by the airline, leaving Clutch in a sticky situation.

Motorhead mainman Lemmy was quick to loan Maines one of his Rickenbacker basses, saving the day for the US rockers. Lemmy died in December of last year, just days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Sult tells UCR: "Last year we played a show with Motorhead where we flew into Germany and the airline lost our bass player's bass. Lemmy was actually cool enough to let him play one of his basses for our entire set. That's pretty much my favorite Lemmy story ever." Read more here.

Jenny Hval Releasing New Album In September

(Prog) Jenny Hval will release her latest album entitled Blood Bitch on September 30. It'll be the Norwegian artist's first material since her 2015 record Apocalypse, Girl.

Hval says: "Blood Bitch is also a fictitious story, fed by characters and images from horror and exploitation films of the 70s. With that language, rather than smart, modern social commentary, I found I could tell a different story about myself and my own time - a poetic diary of modern transience and transcendence."

Hval has issued the first track from the album entitled Female Vampire and announced a run of tour dates, which start next month at the Kilbi Festival in Duedingen, Switzerland. Check out the song and see the tour dates here.

HeavyCon Moves To Bigger Venue Due To High Demand

(TeamRock Radio) HeavyCon organizers have announced that the rock and metal convention will now take place in Birmingham "due to overwhelming demand." The inaugural HeavyCon was due to take place at ExCel London in Royal Victoria Dock between September 30 and October 2, but will now be held at the NEC in Birmingham instead.

The move to a bigger venue will allow the addition of a string of new features, including a Motorhead Museum which includes the band's Bomber lighting rig, which featured on the cover of 1981 live album No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith and has dominated their live production since the late 70s.

A HeavyArt exhibition area will showcase artwork by Mark Wilkinson and the late Storm Thorgerson. Wilkinson's long-time collaborators include Marillion, Fish, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, and he'll be on site to discuss his life and work, with an opportunity for you to acquire some very rare pieces. Opeth Announce Winter Tour Of Europe

(TeamRock Radio) Opeth have announced a European winter tour, kicking off in their homeland of Sweden. The shows include the already announced Wembley Arena gig on November 19.

They say: "Opeth are pleased to announce a new European Tour that will start this November in their home country's capital of Stockholm. Keep an eye out for a handful of other dates to be announced soon."

Some fans have questioned why VIP packages include general admission tickets for some venues, while others require fans with VIP passes to also buy a general admission ticket.

Keyboard player Joakim Svalberg explains: "Some promoters allowed the VIP seller GA tickets so this is included in the Milan package for instance and some promoters did not allow GA tickets so those shows require a GA ticket purchase on top.

"And yes the price is steep but the goods included in the package aren't cheap to make, plus there's taxes, fees, agent and management commissions, shipping fees etc all included." Read more and see the dates here.
