"Lights And Sounds," the lead single from the band's upcoming album of the same name (to be released on January 24), is exploding at Modern Rock radio, with 63 stations adding the track in the past three weeks alone. MTV, MTV2, MTV Hits and Fuse have already added the accompanying Marc Webb-directed video, which recently received an all-day premiere on MTV2 with a 30-minute special about its making. The video was just upped to "Elite 8" rotation at the channel. Yahoo! Music, which simultaneously gave the video its online premiere, reports that it was streamed over a half-million times in its first week. The track also debuted in the top 20 at iTunes.
Yellowcard will perform "Lights and Sounds" on "Comedy Central's Last Laugh '05," an edgy year-in-review special that will premiere on Sunday, December 11th, at 9:00 p.m.
Lights and Sounds is the follow-up to Yellowcard's double Platinum smash Ocean Avenue, which yielded three hit singles and earned the band an MTV Video Music Award. The new album is even more ambitious, sonically and lyrically, covering themes of artifice, war and adulthood, encompassing a broader range of musical styles, from the buzzing guitar attack of the title track to the sweeping grandeur of "How I Go," which features a 25-piece orchestra conducted by violinist Sean Mackin.
