For the first contest, contestants will participate on one of six stages - Rock, Pop, R&B, Country, Hip Hop, and Comedy. Contestants will need to submit a video performance to participate and judging for all qualified submitted performances will open up on January 8, 2007. The contest exists to serve the talent industry, the artists themselves, and the fans voting for who's worthy of being called the best. The audience truly decides who rises to the top, democratizing the talent industry - for the people, by the people. The final five contestants from each Stage will be flown on location in Austin, TX to compete in a live show during SXSW the week of March 12, 2007. The shows will be Webcast for viewers to watch and select the ultimate FameCast winners that same week.
